Bulletin board update?

It seems as if we got an update to our forums. We now have a thanking system and the ability to post to social networks.

Is this to prepare for the massive influx of people with the coming of Arma II Free and the other BIS products? An early CWC anniversary gift? Or just scheduled maintenance?

Not sure about the thanking system, but I can see the value of instant posting to social networks. It could raise the overall profile of the Arma series a bit, since more people are likely to stumble upon a reference to it and decide to check it out.

It can't hurt in any case, so I say: good move, BIS! :)

I'm so anti-social that I'll never use them anyways.

Thank You counter is mostly useless too, bit like Thread ranking with stars.

Just some extra clutter with close to 0 information value. But that's just minimalistic-me. :)

I don't know. It seems a bit unnecessary to create a whole new box with big bold text, just to inform who and when he/her thanked someone. Especially if it's a bit of a touchy subject. :p

A normal 'Thumbs Up and Down' or 'Recommended post' would do fine. ^^

I like the Facebook, Twitter, Digg, etc. thing though. It would come in handy if one of the BI staff got some tasty info to share. ;)

When are we going to have notifications for when a BIS dev/representative post in a thread? Its hard to keep track of threads that are getting BIS attention.

Im already annoyed with this Thank feature seems like its being spammed on every post, Hell i wont be surprised if someone finds my post useful.....
