Custom hand anim for a weapon. PLEASE help.

Recommended Posts

I have searched, but I just don't understand....

I want to create a custom hand anim for a rifle, based on an existing one.

Could someone PLEASE explain how I edit/create a custom weapon hand anim.

From what I have read, apparently this can be done in O2?

All I want to do, is take the standard BIS m16 hand anim, and raise the front hand a little bit.

Thanks in advance.

This thread has an example file you can download that should show you how to do it.

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=87052&highlight=hand+animation

I read that thread, and downloaded that file...

What I dont understand is HOW to load the files into O2.

The thread just says to load them in O2, but does not say how.. LoL

I can load the BIS skeleton... But how do I get the .rtm in there?

In the file menu click "Window" and select Animation.

The animation panel should appear at the bottom on the right side under the LOD window and selections window.

Right click in the animation window and select "From Matrices" and select the .rtm file.

Trying to set up a pilot proxy for O2 view testing .......

When I select and load the .rtm file I only get a -0.50000 in the animation window and nothing else.

The model doesn't move either.

I used the soldier and the male MLODs from the ArmA2 BIS sample file.

Named it pilot01.p3d

inside folder;

-- \CA\temp\proxies\GNT_FW190

Select "From Matrices - All" and I load the RTM

-- \CA\air2\Ka52\Data\Anim\ka52_pilot.rtm

and I tested other rtm's .... no difference :(

Help!

I believe the ARMA2/OA rtm's are binarized in some way that means O2 can't read them, if you have A1 installed I think those rtm's work fine but I'm not sure if there is a solution to the problem :( (assuming that this is the problem!)

Oh! Thanks.

Well, I used RTMExtractor, it produces a frame 0 and frame 1 rtm files (text), but they don't work either ......

Ah that's a shame, would have been nice if the update to O2 could read the rtm's but oh well that's life!

Arh, well, you see I havent updated yet .... lot of backups to do beforehand.

Anyone using 2.5.1 Tools confirm it will load the ArmA2 RTM files now?

On my laptop at the moment, (with the older tools) I'll have a check when I get back to my main computer later though if no-one else gets round to it.

Sorry to double post.

I had a check to see whether an rtm from ARMA2 actually loaded into O2 but it didn't seem to do anything, it loaded in and displayed 0.000 and 1.000 keyframes but nothing happened other than that. Might just double check with a couple other anims to make sure they don't work.
