I don't think Arma 2's helicopter model is shitty.

Obviously it is not realistic, no where near as realistic as a proper simulation, but for an infantry simulator I think Arma 2 helicopter flight models are great.

I voted realistic, but maybe a mix sim/arcade would be better. Like Arma2 is ok for me, and I dont use helicopters in coop missions, so...

This and this. I'd like it to "feel" a little more realistic (some turbulence maybe ?) but remain quite easy to use.

Are you going to buy Take On? Would you buy Take On if you got just as good an helicopter flight experience in ArmA 3? I bet if you asked these questions to a lot of people and got them to answer honestly there would be some people who would not buy Take On if the helicopter models were comparable.

Absolutely I would buy A3 and TOH. Just like I have more than two flight sims installed on my machine. I expect the gaming experience to be completely different between each title, and thats what I don't think having an advanced flight in A3 will jeopardize TOH work.

With ArmA 3 having a much larger number of vehicles than TOH, I don't think it's fair to expect the same level of fidelity in both.

It wouldn't make sense to spend time making full-sim helicopters, while planes, tanks, cars and boats are simple. Consistency is important in a well designed game.

Each vehicle type should receive a similar amount of attention. Helicopters in BIS games are not the only vehicle type that could use more realism.

So will I, but I don't think that's true for everybody.

I don't disagree with that. If it were an option for players it would be great. I'd also like to see TOT (Take on Tanks) and TOC (Take on Cycling) for the tour de Lemnos experience.

Of course they will not make Arma 3 have the same level of physics as their helicopter game, other wise, why would they make the helicopter game?

If you could buy Arma 3 + Take On all in one, who on earth would just buy Take On alone? Think of it from a marketing point of view.

That's not true.

They can use the same flight modelling level in both AA3 and TKOH and it won't change a thing for sales.

Obviously TKOH is not aimed at gunporn junkies like we are and just having similar physics will be enough, TKOH will still have its own campaign, maps and cockpit detail and interactivity. It isn't like BIS is selling a flight model

People who just want to fly and blow up tanks with Apache will not buy TKOH regardless of the level of simulation AA3 will offer

Ok, i exaggerated a bit, point is i'd like to see it improved.

This is exactly what i'm trying to say. Its basically the FSX of Heli-sims.

I'll be buying both, and I would still like to see an advanced flight model for Arma 3.

I'd buy both if I could, pending on what TKOH means I could just use the apache there, heck the flight physics and amazing map size is easily enough to warrant it depending what weapons there are. We've seen a UH-1Y with miniguns and rocket pods so there is some fidelity there, I'm really hoping they will bridge that gap some, maybe not quite make it a main focus but have the ability to bridge the gap, It would beat FSX in that military units are present but they are mostly for looks, and in DCS that all you do is fly around and kill.

Thing is if you improve this aspect then you will have people asking, nay demanding that all other vehicles are improved as well, wheeled, tracked, and especially fixed wing. "If their area got improved why can't ours be?!" Avid as a helicopter I am I don't think this would be a good idea for Arma3 unless everything else got an upgrade as well.

I'm sure though that we'll see phsyics play in somewhere, or at least I hope so, perhaps we find a way to simulate weight and drag and more (and this would apply to everything)

Didn't vote as it lacks a poll option. I would want the TOH realistic flight model only if we could set the various helpers like in TOH itself, not just the most realistic one. Realistic flight model for helicopters? I get the feeling people don't know what they are asking for here.

And I refer to the video comment where the presenter says the developers themselves are still trying to learn to fly their creation. Do I really want to leave the controls to someone who think he's a flying ACE, ending with a crash claiming that "yeah but the framerates suddenly dropped" (or whatever excuse). Many will be far too macho in their setting, unfortunately not only leading to their own demise.

It'd like to see this but wouldn't that be a reason not to buy Take On Helicopters? Not sure if BI likes that.

Do you even KNOW what ToH is about? There is much more to that game than just the flight model.

Not everyone has a boner for shooting stuff in choppers, and thats what ToH is about, a Civilian chopper sim.

The flight model will be a big selling point of the simulator, yes or no?

BIS should make TOH like a flightschool for unlocking the realistic flight model in A3.

Complete the civilian chopper training school in TOH (in expert mode) and with that civilian pilot license advance to the military flightschool in A3. Graduate from the military flightschool (in expert mode) and you unlock the realistic flight model in A3 multiplayer games.

Have a server option for mp games, that only allows licensed pilots to fly choppers.

Everyone wins.

BIS sells more copies of TOH.

Enthousiast A3 pilots get their realistic flight model.

The hardcore A3 community benefits from having better chopper pilots in their mp games.

Yes of course but it is, and i do believe i've said this thrice, MARKETED and AIMED at a DIFFERENT kind of PLAYER, one that doesn't want to blow stuff up, one that doesn't just want to fly military choppers, one that wants to fly around Seattle, to have one of the biggest playgrounds in any game (ToH maps > A3 map, in case you haven't heard).

They are already sharing pretty much everything with each other, it wouldn't make sense NOT to make the realistic flight model an option.

I know what it is about, but from a business perspective I still think it is counter productive for ToH to include it in ArmA III.

I'd like it in ArmA III though.

I think also buy ToH for the realistic flight model only. Have the basic model built in. Then some servers can set their preference.

talk about contradicting yourself. From a business perspective how can sharing technology be counter productive??
