E3 - Arma 3?

About the potential panic over customising uniform, would it not make sense that its like in Arma 2 at the minute where you use the unit that the mission maker puts down, not down to your preference?

They are attracted by the action and the, for lack of a better word, coolness.

I don´t know why everypony keeps complaining. It´s true that it´s a break of tradition, but to me, that means progress and not decay.

A lot of folks seem to think that this is an indication of decay instead. How about you just accept that BI wants to attract more people to the game and deal with it :V

"Anal Community" puts it well. First a wave of whining about the scifi setting, now whining about real people and CGI in a teaser trailer, even going to the lengths of calling this "codemasterish" (which, in my mind, is a pretty hefty insult.) DESPITE actual game screenshots being provided elsewhere is borderline offensive.

That, or maybe I´m overreacting myself.

That's normal, been there since A1, any little bit of info or show garners a reaction equal to swatting a hornets nest, just have to walk by and ignore it.

...also i hope you cant change uniforms mid mission or take some ones uniform with out a realistic being a complete-pain-in-the-ass type thing, like it taking 5-10 mins

I tought about the same while i was writing my post. At least it should take some time, and maybe it should not be possible to take clothes from dead bodies (because of all the blood and the holes in it).

we as the community really do loose sight of what E3 (or any show for that matter) is for. its not for us. its for every one elce.

i mean, just think if maruk made a post here simply staying "ArmA 3". our world would have been on fire. (pre ARG that is)

i really wanted to see a in game trailer, not a CGI one. that little omission was just a shock

iam realy impressed by the new design and style of the whole arma 3 marketing and ingame models!

i was sceptic about the future setting at the first moment, but now i understand how fantastic this will be, as it all has a very high quality look and its unique and creative.

a BIG compliment to the people that do the CI design for arma 3 and the ones who designed these new vehicles, weapons, clothings and so on - very consistent, unique, creative and still not overstated. I LOVE IT :yay:

but what the heck can i do to survive the long waiting for this masterpiece :confused:

Well I'll be buying BF3 -will get sick of the moar linear nature just in time for Arma3.

BF3 = tasty appetizer.

Arma3 = Thanksgiving dinner with rolls.

@trailer - they are obviously trying to make it look cool while they don't want to show much. And the obvious target is the general public, people who don't know about the game

The community knows everything there is to know, bisecting every screenshot...

AFAIR, arma 2 trailer was made by someone non-BIS.

@customizable equipment - you are looking on the negative side - people will wear funny stuff in MP. What funny stuff? Non infantry helmets? Disabling it will be the first thing server people will do.

Also, you forgot about variety, which one of these people will you shoot first?

Ladies and Gents.. What does the Physix image (shipping containers getting knocked down) possibly mean? THAT WE MIGHT FINALLY HAVE A WORKING LCAC WITH RORO CAPABILITY !!!!1111!!! oneoneone. (here's hoping)

Looking great BIS. Will be on the edge of my seat pressing F5 all the (little) free time I have this week. Good luck with the new recruits - erm - Players! Yeah players. :D

EDIT: TKOH has working mirrors and other examples of render to texture. Hope this is part of the same flexible RV engine, and not an isolated derivation thereof. Again, here's hoping.

Thing I´m most excited about is the gear thing. I really hope it´s more than cosmetic, though, but instead an actual feature. Bodyarmour should increase protection but slow you down, load bearing equipment should allow you to carry more than a simple chestrig, etc...

I´m still in the process of putting together an interesting questions thread, so keep an eye out for that in the coming days.

Anyone think this might give a glimpse at how the grass is gonna be rendered in the new game? Might we finally have proper concealment (visually) with it?

Yeah, the grass definitely caught my eye. I know it's just one screenshot, but it's looking really good. The render distance in particular seems pretty impressive. Looks like BI put some nice work into it, so I'm thinking that there's an excellent chance they've also improved the grass in terms of the game mechanics side of things as well.

I think we saw this style of grass\bushes with one of the latest (beta?)-patch. It was kind of odd to see it transparent, but things can still be improved
