Utha Beach map (final beta)

Hi,

I made for 6 Years a Utha Beach map (25x25 km) for private use only!

It was my first OFP map, its not historical correct and the landscape is made by free hand! Its till now in beta status and I guess, I will never finish it!

The addons for this map are also outdated but neverless, the map should work with the last version of "OFP Resistance"!

Nice, I tried it but it gave an error related to brg_n2, I suppose that you used Berghoff vegetation from the pack 3, I will download it and try it again, but as far what I see seems pretty good for long firefights, and very authentic :b

Well as WWII fan I can say:

-mcm bunkers are needing mcm caisses (nteriors and german crates inside bunkers) and Jof objects (sounds of opening doors for bunkers) next time use this version - http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=8102

But if You want to make more realistic map use this pack http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=10603 Mapfact made very nice pack with bunkers based on real one. Especially tobruk's and 88 positions.

-in beach are white objects -probably lbh or lbh2 - bunkers from gfx pack or something. Not in package like above files.

-Few more missing files (white houses) which I spotted but now I don't remember and I'm too lazy for screenshots

My suggestion for future is to check everything twice before release.

About island - it's not reallistic. Almost no elevations,map is flat to me.. Obstacles on beach are not in proper lines etc. in utah beach was a lot of belgian gates. (Don't think that if in one movie which You saw there wasn't it mean that belgian gates wasn't in utah.) What happen with famous hedgerows? or flooded areas during d-day? :/ You should check islands made by daraofp. Gala island and his second WWII map (semi finished) it will teach You how to make nice realistic maps (And will teach You how to make Hedgerows more realistic). Anyway congratulations about first release.

Thanks for the criticism, but I like to say a few words about this:

First, I'm not a hardcore fan of WWII, it is just an interesting era for me! That's why I'm probably not used historically documented objects correctly everywhere! For me it was important that the map is AI friendly, without too many obstacles such as flooded areas or too many bridges!

This was especially important since I've made for ​​this map a comprehensive dynamic campaign!

As for the landscape, I agree with you completely right, but I hope that I make them better in the Arma version!

All in all, no one is perfect and I do not know a mod that does not have any flaws!

I found the last two addons, which cover the "white" bunker with textures and include the door sound! Its now the last upload of a new file!

I tested the map again, with some larger skirmishes on the landscape (no houses or whatever), and it seems a little flat on the first run without units, but when the actions starts, it's good, not too flat but not too bumpy :b

It needs rework, but after all it's a beta, and it really reminded some maps from Darkest Hour's ones, so keep it up
