No but it was well known they didn't go to the grenade range.

Chesty Puller was a Marine. Females are excluded from direct combat rolls in the USMC.

"Our Country won't go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won't be any AMERICA because some foreign soldier will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race!"

LT. GEN. LEWIS "CHESTY" PULLER, USMC

I know about that. The point I was making was about the problems that could arise from VBS not preparing soldiers to face female enemies. I made this point in response to the posts above mine, regarding the "morals" of having female hostiles. I've talked about women as squadmates in the army earlier in this thread (or was it another, about the same thing in AII?). And of course, women in non-"direct combat" roles (like pilots) should be seen even within USMC.

Violence against women? what, do you get to beat your wife as part of the plot before the main character goes on his mission to lemnos?

More like you shoot a woman in opposing uniform, listening to her cries of pain as she tries to crawl away before getting a bullet to the head. Kind of like the same treatment guys get.

Same could be said for animals though, I'm against animal abuse but it's a game. Dog gets hit by a GBU one time... I don't cry about it. You're kind of making a big deal out of women being in game and shooting stuff, and getting shot back at too.

Your point is absurd, specialised female models aren't required for training missions. Doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures remain the same for combat training against male, female and child enemies. Child soldiers are currently fighting in Afghanistan, do you suggest that VBS2 should model child enemies?

I'm all for that. Kids are tough to hit, it's a new challenge.

Well it's a game... I have nothing against it. It's funny to bring up moral issues when you talk about certain "controversial" aspects of a game.

You can already kill females in ArmA 2 so why not make them soliders in ArmA 3 so they can defend themslves ;)

and since we are talking about moral issues, how about all the male "enemies" you kill... how many of those are virtual teenagers or fathers drafted away in the military away from their families. It's ok to kill men who don't want to be there?

As I said... funny :)

Anyway if BIS do decide they don't want women holding guns and on the same level as males, it's ok I guess. It's not a deal breaker for me. I just think it would add a lot more flavour to the game. A subtle flavour... but flavour nevertheless.

My opinion was directed towards the community and their take on the matter.

As I player you are ok with shooting and blowing up things, but you have something against women fighting in a virtual war... really

I have always rejected violence in all it's forms toward women, it's one of my core values. It's evident from the poll results that I hold a minority point of view on this topic, and I accept and respect that we all have different opinions, but IMHO so far nobody has really put forward a sound argument as to why it is crucial for ARMA 3 to simulate the maiming and killing of women.

Someone might be able to provide you a legitimate argument when they also provide one on why its okay to kill only men in video games.

Your argument, summarized as "It is moral to kill men but not women" only makes sense if you consider women to be children, or I suppose if you consider men to be subhuman, it's all very odd.

When you are presented with the fact that you can already kill women in arma 2, they simply can't defend themselves, nothing in your argument changes. You're against violence towards women but even more opposed to women having the means to defend themselves from it.

Your argument stems from an age-old sexist paternalism that regards women as incapable of doing things for themselves (in this case providing for their own defense) or even doing more harm than good when trying.

Anyway, the poll does indeed show you are vastly in the minority (I presume you were one of the 7 against women being in the game, since that would prevent violence being used upon these poor digital damsels) so hopefully BI will listen to all the rest of us.

I'm really sorry my facetious comments offended you, they weren't meant to be taken seriously or literally. Please don't launch personal attack's, it's not good manners. ;)
