Arma 3: Confirmed features | info & discussion

Recommended Posts

Bear in mind that RCWS may not mean exactly this one kind of RCWS, it might be just any Remotely (Con)trolled Weapon System :icon_twisted:

Yes , but can the player use it like a M2 tripod for example and by that I mean can it be moved ?

Yeah , that's why I asked , the only other way I could see them being used is as perimeter defence turrets , mounted on something solid .

Also can a SWORDS be considered a RCWS ?

The topic here is Arma 3: Confirmed features, not BIS: Confirmed devs out-of-con troll :icon_twisted:

I was under the impression that was in a Dev interview, but I might have confused with the new GR or something.

Disconsider what I said. :o

No they were not :) , in the interview the devs were still thinking about it , hence their place in the developer wishes sub section of the list .

We need more :icon_twisted:

I , the chassis is heavy enough .

but atleast they are mobile

You can place RCWS on big tripod ,but it won't be more mobile than Talon

i think you were referring to this and this, right?

Well they are not Cyborgs they are just wearing an... welll... how is this called??

Advanced Combat Suit??

I think we need some :icon_twisted: here.

Especially because there is a lot of "WTF is that?! This isnt Starwars" etc. feedback and we could really need an solid answer to stop this nonsense whining.... ;)

The Iranian solider in that picture has a micro climate unit on his back . It helps keep the solders body temperature down .

This is true, but how do you call this combat suit?

I.F.S.S ( Iranian future solider system ) :p ?

The under layer seems to be made out of a thermal blocking material and the helmet has modular integrated eye protection/HUD .

I really hope the truly amazing work the community put into the ACE mod will be easily ported to Arma 3

I believe it´s even more than that. The system suppresses the IR signature from all angles except the back (since heat has to be vented -somewhere-). So on top of being a climatics unit, it helps in camouflaging the soldier. Possibly pointlessly so, since he doesn´t have a visor or mask shielding his face, which will glow in our optics like a flashlight in the dark.

Still, this is quite in the realm of the possible. What will make or break the game for me, though, is proper simulation of some sort of "super-AI", which represents the digitized nature of the modern battlefield. ie, a system such as Land Warrior.
