hey Eddie

just been testing the R3F logistics in more detail

http://s162.beta.photobucket.com/user/eggbeast/library/RACS_tow_test

method:

attempted to tow each RACS item (static, wheeled, tracked) to a stock vehicle

summary:

ZPU4 - height good, slightly too close to vehicle so wheels clash - could do with extending bounding box 2m further from end of tow bar

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_zpu4_tow.jpg

37mm - height 20m too high - is the floor of the bounding box set really far below this vehicle? could add 1-2m to tow bar distance

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_37_tow.jpg

57mm - same as 37mm

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_57_tow.jpg

new57mm - perfect

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_new57_tow.jpg

105mm - almost perfect - could do with adding 0.3m to floor of bounding box to raise tyres off ground?

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_105_tow.jpg

155mm - almost perfect - could do with reducing floor of bounding box by 0.3m as tyres are off ground

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_155_tow.jpg

m113 - perfect

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_lav_tow.jpg

scimitar/scorpion - height good, but very long space at rear of bounding box

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_scim_105_tow.jpg

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_lav_tow.jpg

custom LAV - has a deep floor? could do with raising this up 2m, and adding 2m to front

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_lav_tow.jpg

trucks - as LAV

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/racs_reptrk_tow.jpg

pinzgauer - same as LAV/trucks? things towed to it go through the floor, it must have a deep floor to its bounding box (sitting 2m below the surface of the terrain)

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/eggbeast/RACS_tow_test/pracsv_105_tow.jpg

hope this helps. I can edit the R3F logistics to separately deal with each PRACS vehicle, or maybe you can tweak the bounding box sizes of your vehicles?

cheers

egg

while we're at it, could you possibly allow the PRACS_M901_ITV to depress it's turret so that when you're up on a hill you can lock the tow on tanks in a valley below you?

Adding a laser designator to the turret would also be awesome! like hcpookie's command brdm with the periscope LD - great fun hiding behind a rock and using this!

Magazines = {"LaserBatteries"};

Weapons = {"LaserDesignator_mounted"};

From the Readme/EULA on the first page of this thread:

THIS MOD IS IN NO WAY ACE COMPATABLE NOR WILL IT BE MADE TO DO SO. ABSOLUTELY NO PERMISSION IS GIVEN TO OPEN, MODIFY, OR CHANGE THE CONFIGS IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THIS PLEASE STOP DOWNLOADING AND DELETE ALL PRACS FILES FROM YOUR HARD DRIVE. THIS IS OFFICIAL PROJECT RACS POLICY AND IS NON-NEGOTIABLE IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.

hi Eddie

Evo RACS vanilla Lingor and Dingor on their way today

re: PRACS weapons:

not sure if this is important, but in your weapons cfg you define a list of weapons and ammo at the start of the config file, which do not include all of the weapons/mags to follow

weapons
"PRACS_M16A1","PRACS_M16A1_NVS","PRACS_g3a4sp","PRACS_Mk48_SP","PRACS_SG1_SD_NVS","PRACS_g3a4sm1","PRACS_g3a4sm2","PRACS_g3a4t40","PRACS_g3a4k","PRACS_g3a4_m68","PRACS_SG1","PRACS_SG1_SD","PRACS_g3a3","PRACS_g3a3t40","PRACS_HK53A3","PRACS_HK33A4_EO","PRACS_HK33A4","PRACS_HK53A3_EO","PRACS_UMP45","PRACS_Mk48","PRACS_Mk48_SD","PRACS_MAG58","PRACS_M240","PRACS_CG","PRACS_CETME","PRACS_M60"

the actual weapons/mags are:

also note some variation in use of case, e.g.

PRACS_g3a4sm1 is actually PRACS_g3a4SM1 - this is important if using arrays of weapons - checking if a player is using MK_48 returns 0 if he is carrying a Mk_48!

not sure what your published weapon list looks like, but thought I'd mention it...

did something get updated recently eddie? we're running the mod from your website

20 pbo files inc the pracs_tk_ext

dates range:4/2/12 to 21/9/12

filesize (pbos only): 2.43Gb

other clanmates using sixupdater have

20 pbos

dates range: 6/10 to 29/10

filesize: 2.36Gb

do we need to update it?

we think that we're crashing when near each other and issuing squad commands - and that this variation is the cause

wld, just out of curiosity, do you have future plans to make an OPFOR faction to go along with RACS forces?

That really depends on how aweful the opfor winds up being for arma3. As of right this second with the TK extension it fills out the Takis pretty well. Theya re currently my favorite opfor force.

Gotcha. You probably haven't planned this far ahead but I can't help but to ask now, are the RACS for ArmA 3 going to be 2035'd RACS or are they going to be similar to what we have now?

I really am not sure yet. Arma3 will be set that far in future but from discussions with most modders i dont expect to see many mods that far advanced.

most likely what you will see is an iteration of what we have now with upgrades and modernizations.

No RACS F-22/F35 or any crap like that. Expect to see your favorite stuff with updated cockpits and enhancements to use the new technology. RKSl rock and i are combining some of our efforts in the IAP project (when i say combining i mean me begging and helping where i can while he is tolerating it enough to share his models with me) so some of the older and more tired models may go out the window for something fresh of the same time period. Tonight we discussed a POSSIBLE replacement for the A-4. Rock is interested in making an A-7 model so adjustments like that can be expected. What i am really anxious to find out is how arma3 will effect my charachter models. If i have to throw everything out and start over, it will be a massive setback. Don't expect to see Master Chief with a sahrani flag on his shoulder but more closer to now time frame.
