Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine

Recommended Posts

Are they not by the same people? The same models are being used.

Want to see a screen with both models, to see how "same" are they? :D

Ok, it seems you didn't read my post Dice. That was a comparison between the "Liberation 1941-1945" mod and Iron Front.

It has already been established that SARMAT is working with, or offered their content to, or some other sort of arrangement, the company doing Iron Front.

So this has nothing to do with I44, or FoW. It is essentially LibMod as a standalone game, although I would imagine it already surpasses the original LibMod plans greatly.

I'm very curious to see what they have in store for terrain(s). I can guarantee I will buy this game on release day if they can deliver a Chernarus-sized (200km2) map.

maybe BIS offered the guys that did LIB41-45 an offer they can't refuse?

I thought the same thing.

That means no LIB41-45 Mod for us?

Damn...

Is this legit? Did they steal the engine or did they get permission?

Either way, OMG! AWESOME!

Maybe you could read through this topic. anyway, they licensed the engine.

It would be great they do a dynamic campaign and things totally different to Arma 2

At first I was shocked to hear Libmod had gone commercial,I love the name Iron Front-dunno about the 1944 bit tho :)

But as you take that journey from modding obscurity to the real world of cut-throat game design and publishing,

lets hope these first few steps, will eventually lead to better and greater things, jobs, dreams, hopes and aspirations.

Sometimes you cantake the moral high ground, but in this day and age, ekeing out a living making a ww2 game is every modders dream,

and although in the past (both i44 and lib41-45) with 9 years modding alongside eachother we probably haven't seen eye to eye at times,

I always have a deep respect for you,so I would like to say, good luck to all of you, the Iron Front team.

So just out of curiosity what exactly did they get with the license? Source code? Tools?

Just wondering if we can expect any kind of enhancements with this game, or if it's going to be more like a standalone mod.

Big Dawg KS if you buy a license isnt to make a mod...

This has The CCCP, something every WWII mod in ArmA lacks.

And CCCP is...?

You obviously didn't understand my question. Just buying a license for an engine is pretty vague; it may mean that they are just allowed to redistribute the same executable that comes with ArmA 2 (maybe slightly modified) with new content, or it may grant them full access to engine source code so they can expand the engine. It's not clear which is the case here since as far as I know BIS has never before licensed their engine to any other commercial products.

The only reason I'm curious is because a WWII setting could increase the demand for certain engine features/tweaks that are currently not present. I'm interested to see how far this game will differ from simple ArmA 2 mod.
