Reinforcements DVD Setup.exe AppFault.

Recommended Posts

I was wondering whether anyone could help with this one.

All of my attempts to install Reinforcements have failed with an error the instant I run Setup either from the DVD or the DLC Install tool.

In short:

Arma 2 Successfully installed and patched to 1.09 (Clean Install)

Arma 2: OA Successfully installed and patched to 1.59 (Clean Install)

AV Software has been completly removed and DEP disabled (not that it made any difference).

All following actions result in the Appcrash

Installing Reinforcements direct from DVD.

Installing the DLC only direct from DVD.

And with the full DVD copyied to a local HDD: Autorun > Install Reinforcements; Autorun > Install DLC Only; Running the Setup.exe directly and the Second Copy of Setup.exe from the DLCs Subdirectory.

Compatability modes also fail.

I should also add that this is not a Vista System. It's Windows Server 2008 x64.

In the event that this represents a basic compatability problem and unavoidable is there instead a procedure I can use to copy the files directly from the DVD to my Arma directory (perhaps using given file locations from the checkFileList.lst or something)?

Thanks.

Hello Dwarden.

Thanks for the quick response.

I use the Admin account on the machine by default.

All security apps have been physically removed and not much is left in the system tray. (Steam, Razer Drivers and Gamma Control)

The Firewall is on by default but I figured that one would be irrelevant.

Its 2K8 R1 x64 Enterprise Sp2 so is effectively the Vista core (Its usually identified as Win Vista X64) and compatability modes are quite limited.

98/Me, Win 2K, Win XP Sp2 and Server 2K3 SP1 have been tried and fail equally.

Data Execution Protection appears to have no effect on the problem.

I tried both a normal exe exception and again by killing it entirely using bcdedit unfortunately neither had any effect.

Oddly running the executables in safe mode resulted in nothing at all... No errors and no response. It simply disappears.

Its quite strange.

I set up a virtual Win7 Machine installed ArmA2/OA/Reinforcements and transfered the result to my non-virtual W2k8.

Not as elegant as a porper fix and a bit time consuming but it works.
