Review up on Eurogamer DK

Flying around in helicopters on your PC without shooting at pixel truppen... who would have known? Good, clean fun and an engaging story for once. Nice work, Bohemia.

"...Do I recommend TOH? You bet I do! If you’re looking for a more casual sim with a decent story mode, I’d say you’ve found your game. The hardcore simmers will want to look elsewhere, and the arcade kids who think BF3′s helicopters are ultra-realistic will get frustrated quickly, but for those who are looking for a sim that isn’t bogged down in technical manuals and procedure, I think Take on Helicopters is fantastic."

"If you are sensitive to the poetry of an urban landscape seen from the air, Take On Helicopters should delight you. And it's probably just the beginning, because the mission editor, derived from that of ArmA2, should allow the community to enrich the game after everyone has exhausted the career mode."

"Surprisingly, the voice acting isn’t half bad by most standards, and by BIS standards it’s friggin’ outstanding" :p

disConnect Review

For those who are looking for a sim that isn’t bogged down in technical manuals and procedure, I think Take on Helicopters is fantastic. It’s a little pricey, and the engine needs some patching to become playable at a decent FPS, but there’s definitely a good game under here."

RipTen Review 9/10 [spoiler alert!]

'RipTen’s scoring system describes a 9 as “the pinnacle of the genre, a game that defines what that genre should be about†and without doubt, Bohemia have created something very special with Take On Helicopters.'

I'll add the other part of that quote;

This is a flight-sim with a central career that gives a coherence to what in other titles would merely be a series of single instance scenarios; and it does so through an engaging story-arc populated by likable, but poorly-voiced, characters. Contracts within the career mode cleverly offer traditional standalone scenarios in a way that makes story-sense and adds to the surprisingly rich Larkin Aviation theme, and most importantly the scenarios are all a lot of fun.

All this aside, Take On Helicopters is really enjoyable game and I recommend it to anyone who wants a real hardcore helicopter simulator as there are not many around and this one certainly comes out tops. It’s not a quick game to master though, I have had it for a week now and I am still pretty rubbish at it. At least I know that helicopter pilot is not a career changing choice I should make. I would be utterly useless, and probably do more damage than good. I think I’ll just stick with this awesome simulator

Mature Gaming, 4/5

All in all I really enjoyed Take on Helicopters; it made a flight simulator more enjoyable and accessible for me. There are a few niggles that I’m sure will be sorted over time, I’m sure the modding community will keep the game fresh and going for a long time to come. But if your into flight simulators, especially helicopters then I think this is a must buy game.

"It's really only when you step back and look at what the game offers that the true potential of the game comes into focus"

Nice to read a Seattleite's point of view!

Overall, I really enjoy Take On Helicopters. It’s a worthy addition to the Bohemia Interactive family, as well as realistic flight simulators everywhere. I highly recommend anyone with a love of them to give this a try as you won’t be disappointed. I hope more campaigns are added to Take On: Helicopters as I would love to explore more areas and more crazy situations. I would also love to see Take On move into fixed wing aircraft and see what else they can do. Hopefully this is just the beginning.

The PC Gamer review also means there are now enough Metacritic-approved reviews out to be listed (currently at a 75 / 100 average). The user reviews give a bit of a skewed perspective however :confused:
