walker 0 Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) Hi all Last week TEPCO shares rose after what were IMHO a frankly made set of good stories about Fukushima that were not based in any reality, appeared in the press temporarily boosting TEPCO's share price and enabling some to get out of TEPCO shares. http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20110614-700313.html Frankly if you were idiot enough to buy into this you deserved to loose every penny you did dumb @*^%$ That said you may want to look into suing those who came up with the stories. The Radiation Monitoring station in Hawaii observed a spike in Radiation coincident with the time period of the event in the Irradiated Fuel cooling pool shown in a Video I posted on the previous page of the thread. http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1956388&postcount=221 Which would seem to confirm the assessment that it was an event that caused a massive release to atmosphere of radiation. This is disturbing as it means that TEPCO are hiding radiation releases. Since then TEPCO has been forced to abandon a highly radioactive water treatment procedure as it caused such a high radiation spike they were forced to evacuate the plant. http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/308161 As usual the industry has massively under estimated the dangers of radioactive waste. When one considers that the industry has been attempting round the world to dump all the waste cleanup costs for the industries waste on to the tax payer; it may be the reason so many countries are now looking to ditch nuclear. At the present time there is no long term waste disposal method for highly irradiated nuclear fuel. Heck there is not even a plan for it. Hardly surprising then, that with increasing radiation levels again happening in Japan and hot spots of radiation high enough to force evacuations: http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110617a1.html some hotspots being found as far as 200km away from the TEPCO plant that caused the incident http://www.myweathertech.com/2011/06/18/radiation-hot-spots-up-to-200-km-from-fukushima-outside-evac-zone/ and in the light of the realisation that now more than 80% of Japanese citizens have said they want to scrap nuclear power. http://www.monstersandcritics.com/news/asiapacific/news/article_1646317.php/More-than-80-per-cent-of-Japanese-want-nuclear-reactors-scrapped Thus joining the bandwagon of countries abondoning Nuclear Power Hardly surprising then, that Moody's have now downgraded TEPCO shares and bonds to Junk. http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5hQFbtSJva44q9i6T_sTeUgYdlcHQ?docId=CNG.007cc9cf5ed4a4daee067d1e6f85d8f8.621 Putting the final nail in the coffin of the idiots who got fooled into investing in Nuclear Power by the industries marketing hype. How could anyone be dumb enough to invest in 3 nuclear power plants in full melt down? Hey, can I sell you the Brooklyn Bridge? walker 0 Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) Hi all Physicist Michio Kaku says Fukushima remains a Ticking Bomb outside the control of TEPCO. http://inthearena.blogs.cnn.com/2011/06/21/fukushima-still-a-ticking-time-bomb/ The key problem with the Nuclear Industry is that shown in the dire state of the aging US reactors. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110620/ap_on_re_us/us_aging_nukes_part1 It is that the nuclear inspectors are controlled by the industry. Even in the safety conscious US, if a reactor fails a safety test the safety test is reduced so that the companies reactor can pass the test. Until there is top down reform of the Nuclear Power inspectorate from the IAEA down, the whole planet remains in danger. The members of the Nuclear Industry should be banned from all senior posts in Nuclear Inspection, the head of the IAEA should be the head of Greenpeace. It only when the Nuclear Police stop being the Dons of the Nuclear Mafia that we will get honest policing of this declining industry. walker 0 Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) Hi all The future of the nuclear industry is not improved by censorship it just increases the fear. The fact that US news agencies appear to be under orders not to report on their own nuclear power industry is disturbing, and has been reported in several none US news media. Any one else having problems finding working up to date US news sources on the problems in Nebraska? Is the US internet down or something? Or is it just overwhelmed? Odd very odd. Or is it because the Iradiated Nuclear Fuel storage is already inundated? http://hawaiinewsdaily.com/2011/06/guess-whos-coming-to-dinner-at-the-fort-calhoun-nuclear-plant/ Walker Edited June 22, 2011 by walker

walker 0 Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) Hi all In reply to ST_Dux what you seem to fail to understand is that no one trusts an IAEA that is run by the industry and has the job of promoting Nuclear Power. Do we have policemen who run the mafia as well? It is a conflict of interest. If you can suggest a sensible nuclear policeman who is not part of the Nuclear industry or beholden to it I am all ears. In the light of the fact that the IAEA cannot be trusted, then why waste money paying them wages? Better to leave the policing to an independent body that is not in the pockets of those who they police hence; Greenpeace. As to events in the news: There is increasing concern that TEPCO are about to announce that one or more of the Reactors has gone "China Syndrome." http://the-diplomat.com/a-new-japan/2011/06/23/china-syndrome-at-fukushima/ Walker Edited June 23, 2011 by walker
st_dux 26 Posted June 23, 2011 I see your point with regard to a conflict of interest, but Greenpeace has their own bullshit political agenda which is also a conflict of interest. If it were up to Greenpeace, nuclear power would be removed altogether; but nuclear power is a potent resource that we shouldn't abandon just because of a handful of isolated incidents. walker 0 Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) Hi all Safecast has done some experiments that prove that radiation monitoring of Gama radiation, as being done by TEPCO, is not even showing a 5th of the actual radiation levels. Most of the radiation is coming from Alpha and Beta emitters. http://blog.safecast.org/2011/05/22/radiation-measurement-experiment/ TEPCO has already been forced to admit that its initial announcement of radiation levels was 1/2 what it was in reality; now it looks like TEPCO will forced to announce it was a 10 Times what they originally announced. No wonder the Japanese people have started getting together to do their own measurements. http://safecast.org/feedmap Clearly the Nuclear Industry and its lackey the IAEA cannot be trusted. Iroquois Pliskin 0 Posted June 24, 2011 Drone Airplane Crashes Into Roof Of Damaged Fukushima Reactor #2 http://www.zerohedge.com/article/drone-airplane-crashes-roof-damaged-fukushima-reactor-2 Fukushima, which has yet to be wrapped up into the world's most surreal Christo project, has now entered the realm of the sitcom farce. According to Dow Jones, "A small 8.2 kilogram drone aircraft gathering data from heavily damaged areas of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant lost control Friday and landed on the roof of the No. 2 reactor building, plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. (9501.TO) said. The vehicle, known as a T-Hawk, is about 50 centimeters in diameter and looks like a small jet pack. It is used primarily by the military for reconnaissance work in dangerous areas. It has been used at Fukushima Daiichi since mid-April to assist in damage assessment." What next: Getco's SkyNet bots take control of the Johnny 5's crawling and snapping pics inside the damaged reactors and all commit ritual suicide in the spent fuel rod pool (while churning shares of GM stock of course). There is nothing to worry about though: according to Tepco, which has a lot of credibility in this sort of thing, it is all under control. From Dow Jones: The company said there didn't appear to be any damage from the impact of the vehicle, with no fire or smoke observed following the accident. It wasn't known if the vehicle was damaged in any way. Tepco spokesman Junichi Matsumoto said that due to its small size and weight, the drone is "unlikely to crash through the rooftop and damage the reactor." Tepco said it may attempt to retrieve the unit using a long crane. The No. 2 unit is the only one of the four affected reactors to retain its roof following explosions at units 1, 3 and 4 that destroyed much of their outer buildings. Japanese Nikkei link - http://e.nikkei.com/e/fr/tnks/Nni20110624D24JF762.htm The only reactor building with a secondary containment outer walls still intact. I can't do anything but LAUGH OUT LOL. walker 0 Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) Hi all Civil servants working for the British government have been caught doing a PR job for the Nuclear Power industry. The corruption is appparent in emails discovered with civil servant favouring Nuclear power over other power sources in detailed plans to downplay the effects of Fukushima made within just two days of the earthquake. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2011/jun/30/british-government-plan-play-down-fukushima Essentialy you have government employees acting against the interests of the country and the Nuclear Power Industries competitors. For some time there has been questions about revolving door jobs in the Nuclear power industry and government employees, this investigation would seem to confirm that the influence the Nuclear Power industry has is sufficient to prevent government employees fullfilling their impartial role in an open market. There are now calls for a root and branch investigation of the department; with consequences for those involved employees including: being sacked and banned from ever working for any one in the power industry, as well as possible jail time for anyone who took part. mrcash2009 0 Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) I can't believe this thread is still going. Isn't it well past its sell-by date? No, becuase the topic is "where now" which is open to the subject of nuclear covering all aspects with current updates, in fact with the shitstorm right now we have of radiation floating its pretty important in many ways. There appears to be a lot of self-bumping of information that 90% of people couldn't give a shit about. Can you give a list of names and make a poll thread? :) If your implying "Walker keeps posting more and more info here and I cant be arsed to read it" .. then report him to moderator and ask for it to be closed, and if you get no where, dont read it.BTW, yes the face palm is related as you mention I thought that was great too. walker 0 Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) Hi all In reply to Hellfire257 The thread is going on because as others have pointed out the consequences of Fukushima continue to go on both in terms of its effects on the future of of the Nuclear Power Industry. http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/9549778-nuclear-industry-suffers-major-defeat-in-iowa http://www.huffingtonpost.com/karl-grossman/nuclear-power-unsafe-in-t_b_886968.html http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,771646,00.html http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/30/us-france-nuclear-opinion-idUSTRE75T42H20110630 http://arabnews.com/economy/article464782.ece And the concerns it has raised about all the other Western Nuclear plants with the same risks of Loss of Cooling power. http://www.omaha.com/article/20110630/NEWS01/110639977 http://www.indypendent.org/2011/06/30/nukes-at-risk/ The obviouse incompetance and lack of understanding of basic physics and engineering within those who work in the industry. The fact that SCRAM does not work. Because the Fukushima reactors were SCRAMed and within less than 4 hours they were all in total melt down. Something that some in this forum thought shut down a reactor but clearly it does not. The fact that the industry still has no solution to the ever increasing number of too iradiated to use fuel rods and that those Iradiated Fuel pools are the biggest Danger in the Nuclear power industry and yet they are stored in Zero Contaiment. And of course the fact that industry is so heavily subsidised by the tax payer and expects the tax payer to pay for the cleanup and storage of the too iradiated to use fuel rods. The dammage it continues to do to the people. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jun/30/fukushima-children-radiation-tests-caesium http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/news/20110629p2g00m0dm010000c.html http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/news/20110627p2g00m0dm004000c.html http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2011/06/25/Poll-shows-Fukushima-evacuees-are-upset/UPI-68481309058371/ http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/news/20110622p2g00m0dm022000c.html The thread contiues as well because the Fukushima incedent continues to be: an accedent, dangling over the edge of a precipice. With those involved; still using match stick and string technology to try to avert the disaster getting worse. http://nuclearstreet.com/nuclear_power_industry_news/b/nuclear_power_news/archive/2011/06/30/_fffe_tepco-begins-using-megafloat-barge-for-fukushima-water-storage-063002.aspx And because too many in this forum and the world in gerneral were and remain too complacent.
