18+marines and field hospital quarantined

i was hearing on the news last night that 350 marines including hospital staff have been confined to the hospital and quaranteened due to a mistery illness similar to meningitis, two are so seriously ill that one got rushed back to Uk and one to Germany from afganistan, the majority of the marines were involved in the cave destroying missions.

Military said there is nothing suspicious at all. mmmm

what do u think?

It is suspicious. I read it on a website this morning.

Possibility the Afghans may have used some bio weapon on our troops me thinks... Is it really meningitis?

Sounds not good... Maybe a biological weapon, a custom made virus or something like that...

I heard in the news some time ago that the US troops had already found sites for brewing chemical or biological weapons in a few caves.

Does anyone know if it's caused by viral, bacterial, fungi or some other infection. Bacterial infenctions of meningitis are very rare and it shouldn't normally spread just like that.

Meningitis is an infection of the fluid of a person's spinal cord and the fluid that surrounds the brain.

Actually it isn't, Meningitis is the inflammation of the brain Meninges.

Trust me, im in the medical profession.

You'll notice that anything ending in ITIS ie. Appendicitis, Laryngitis etc Means "Inflammation of" Its a medical terminology. And so Appenicitis means inflammation of the appendix.

I see being a former paramedic makes me no illness-specialist. At least I can help people who have been shot or wounded otherwise. (But that`s offtopic)

just a loose theory that i haven't done any research on so i'm sure i'll be "corrected"

maybe those are the guys that blew up those large weapon dumps in caves, and there were biological devices being stored in there, and when the caves exploded it sent it into the air around them?

i doubt they would have known if they were there, one or two biological devices in a cave with tanks and hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition could eaisly be missed, and if i were them wouldn't exactly be looking for them.

Ah, hospitals. A great place to spread illness.

First one thing, to those of you saying that "we have to stop the Afghans if the have BC weapons"...What do you think the troops are doing? Fishing? And it is not the Afghans weapons, it is Al Quedas weapons. Most of the people in Al Queda have little to nothing to do with Afghanistan.

Secondly, about weapons being blown up and possibility of chemical weapons being among them. I am quite certain the soldiers check what it is they are blowing up before they actually destroy it.

And if they suspected that enemy has biological and chemical weapons they should have used gasmasks.

Though gasmask limits visibility and other senses and does not allow usage of NVG equipment with them.

And, unless I am mistaken, gasmasks are not that good against biological / viral threats.
