stefos71 10 Posted March 14, 2011 Hi all, I've bought Arma II: CO and I've downloaded the British Forces & Private Military Company DLC's. My question: Is the "Reinforcements" standalone the BAF & PMC DLC's together as one OR is this a new game which expands on the BAF & PMC Downloadable content for Arma II? Thanks everyone... Leon86 13 Posted March 14, 2011 reinforcements=baf+pmc
stefos71 10 Posted March 14, 2011 @Leon86, Essentially it's just the 2 DLC's on disc? Why? Weird, especially when you could only get them via Steam. Thanks, I think........

shezan74 11 Posted March 14, 2011 i still have some doubts... if you read marek words here: http://www.arma2.com/latest-news/arma-2-reinforcements-retail-news_en.html it seems that the package will be standalone...

.kju 3244 Posted March 14, 2011 It is said to be some form of OA lite + (full) BAF and PMC DLC. I suspect it means it does not contain the SP content of OA like the campaign and missions. It should be compatible to OA just fine in MP. That said a CO lite + DLC or DLC only pack would have sounded more appealing to me. A2R will introduce again the MP issues vs CO play.. royaltyinexile 175 Posted March 14, 2011 Its just the DLCs on DVD. Why must everyone always read more than is actually quoted? Why can't trolls read what is actually quoted? :p We´re always trying to deliver something more and here it is, new campaigns, dozens of units all completely standalone to be played solo or to be combined with our other great military simulators into one ultimate pack. Best, RiE
moricky 211 Posted March 14, 2011 Its just the DLCs on DVD.Whats so hard to understand about that? Why must everyone always read more than is actually quoted? What part of the following statement did you not understand? :P Standalone expansion to the original Arma 2. http://www.bistudio.com/index.php/english/games/arma-2-series/reinforcements
dm 9 Posted March 14, 2011 Shouldn't you two be fixing bugs rather than playing with the trolls? So we'll get the DLC's + some exe version on disk. I'm assuming that anyone who already owns OA can use the disk version to install just the DLC? But you probably wont answer that, because you're not interested in actually being useful :P
vohk 10 Posted March 14, 2011 Don't mean to be a tool, but if there is one thing BI has some serious issues with it's communication. For example, I can't count the number of times I've had to explain 'Combined Operations' to people because the proper explanation really isn't readily available. I've read plenty of posts about Reinforcements, including that release, and my understanding was that it was just the DLCs, no additional content. That quote (Marek Španěl's) could mean it's a way to run the DLCs standalone (without OA), that it includes OA, or some combination of the above + content that hasn't been released at all. I realize that it isn't out yet, but providing more comprehensive explanations would prevent a lot of the misinformation.
Beagle 684 Posted March 14, 2011 The DLC campaigns are not working without "Operation Arrohead" content that means it must be in the package as a standalone without a campaign is not really a game at all.
flattermann 12 Posted March 14, 2011 yeah you probably get standard arma2+oa kit with low-res textures just like baf+pmc if you haven't bought it ^^
pettka 694 Posted March 15, 2011 The DLC campaigns are not working without "Operation Arrohead" content that means it must be in the package as a standalone without a campaign is not really a game at all. Imagine You don't have A2 nor OA. You buy Reinfercements. Its standalone, that means you are able to play both campaigns and missions (BAF and PMC) from it even without buying A2 or OA. I hope its clear now :icon_twisted:

twisted1in7 10 Posted March 24, 2011 Will ARMA 2: Reinforcements come with the previous ARMA 2 base (like combined ops does) or the Arrowhead Expansion? I have ARMA 2 already and I want to get Arrrowhead, PMC and BAF. Should I just buy combined ops and then PMC and BAF? Don't want to make a huge investment and then find out that everything previous comes with the Reinforcements Standalone Expansion. Also there is mention of improvements to the game engine in Arma 2: Reinforcements. Will these same engine improvements be released for ARMA2 (original game) and also for Combined Operations with a downloadable patch or update? Thank you. Smurf 12 Posted March 24, 2011 Reinforcements = BAF + PMC only. You will need Arrowhead to run them.
PuFu 4600 Posted March 24, 2011 reinforcements includes only the DLC content for Operation Arrowhead. If you already own ArmA2, then you don't need to buy CO, just OA and the DLC. If you have Steam A2, i suggest you get OA the same way. For instance if you have retail|DVD A2 version, you can get the OA retail, or via sprocket (i have A2 on dvd and OA + PMC + BAF from sprocket, and was able to combine A2+OA when i installed )
concurssi 11 Posted March 24, 2011 No, you don't need OA for Reinforcements. It's standalone.

I read somewhere that ARMA 2: Reinforcements will include Arrowhead (little version), BAF and PMC. The improvements are usually released in the updates. But Arrowhead has new improvements than ARMA 2 (original game). As example new units, functions, equipments, etc. Edited March 24, 2011 by chicago
concurssi 11 Posted March 24, 2011 Reinforcements only comes with BAF and PMC. OA is not included. I strongly suggest you also buy OA though.
Lonestar 11 Posted March 24, 2011 http://www.bistudio.com/index.php/english/games/arma-2-series/reinforcements Standalone expansion to the original Arma 2.
twisted1in7 10 Posted March 24, 2011 Hi Lonestar! I had assumed that "Standalone" meant that it could be installed and played with no previous Bohemia Interactive software on your system. Which then led to my other questions.
.kju 3244 Posted March 24, 2011 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=116039 It is BAF+PMC+OA "lite" (probably means no SP content of OA).
concurssi 11 Posted March 24, 2011 What other content did OA have besides SP content?
