Ollie1983 10 Posted March 11, 2011 I have steam, on which I purchased OA standalone. I am told that, on the MP server I use anyway, I won't be able to see or use a small amount of game content if I don't have Arma 2 or combined ops. So what is the most problem free (not the cheapest really) option for me? Go on steam and download Arma 2 on its own, or buy combined ops and install that? Also are the British and Private compnay packs worth getting??
Kristian 24 Posted March 11, 2011 I'd say BAF is worth the money, PMC isn't. The cheapest and easiest way to go now would probably be to get ArmA2 from steam. ;)
kremator 993 Posted March 11, 2011 It's ALL worth the money as BIS shouldn't be creating great content for free. Don't listen to grumpy players!
vohk 10 Posted March 11, 2011 It's ALL worth the money as BIS shouldn't be creating great content for free. Don't listen to grumpy players! And as much as I like BI, people shouldn't fall off the other end of the wagon and confuse them with a registered charity. :D Seriously though, it doesn't really matter where you get A2. The only obnoxious thing with Steam is that it insists on putting A2 and OA in separate install folders, making it slightly more complicated to launch in CO. See this thread. I guess just getting the retail/Sprocket 'Combined Operations' pack would be the easiest, but not by all that much. I have the whole set in Steam, it's not difficult. I bought both DLCs, rather liked BAF, mixed feelings on the PMC. For $10 bucks each I'm not complaining. It really depends on whether or not you, or the servers you play on, are going to use the content. Thanks to the lite packs, they arn't essential.

Also are the British and Private compnay packs worth getting?? Buy Arma II on Steam as well. Works great. I don't know about the DLCs. You get a free version with low quality textures. So you can use all units and so on. I mostly play online and haven't found a good reason to buy PMC and BAF.
