/\ true that Vas, thx

Vilas is rather busy; he's not even a member of W39, but he tries to contribute whenever time allows him. I lend support given a possibility. Currently it's the only activity to report. Other mod members went silent or are busy as well with real life or their own projects. Once there anything we'd want to share we'll post it like we always do.

Yes, we know that. We will SURELY get rid of the Y-straps in one of the upcoming test versions. It's only there (still) because it came with the infantry model donated by LODU. It all takes time and goes slower tha we'd like, but we're in the process of replacing the personal gear for 1939 standards.

Speaking of which - Saw your take on the Germans today, very nice - would there be a chance we could use the strap you made for the chest pouch here ?

@Rob_Mayall

Thanks for the comment. Chances of this being released for 2013? It all depends on the help we get and possibilities of expanding the team. It's just too few of us to handle the scope as it is now.

At the beginning of the year I'll send you a link to download "mloda" version of German infantry and weapons. Now, still working on Sapper and medic. "in stock" I have the German tankers. You can then send, too, are in one file. in the package you will find the unit in training uniforms too.

Here comes the Navy ;)

These rough models are in preliminary stage. Once they get the right equipment and armament it'll become the Riverine Flotilla of the Polish Navy or Lądowa Obrona Wybrzeża (Land Units of the Coastal Defense)

Also, this will be used by them. Riverine Chaser KU-30. There's not enough water to accommodate this beauty on our map yet. But it'll surely get the right conditions to perform one day.

Germans will get their Marine units as well. A Sturmboot to carry a party of 7 is one of our WIPs too.

Sorry for this being only ran through Google translator, but it's kinda late and don't have time for a decent translation.

It's from the Wikipedia entry on the Chaser Ku-30. Interresting history of this battle-tested prototype. Read to the end ;) It was killed, resurrected by the Germans and used by them in the very lsat chapter of the Reich defense of 1945.

Pretty much everything sank by the enemy or deliberatly by Polish crews was later recovered by the Germans and reentered service with them. Here, some pics of the KU-30 recovery. Rare pics confirming it's existance and fate.

http://fow.az.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=5553

Speeder was built in the yard of the river in Pinsk in 1938-1939 to order Flotilla River in the modernization of the fleet. The unit was tasked with patrolling the shallow rivers and lakes Polesie and reconnaissance tasks. By not fully substantiated information to the construction incorporates a newly developed by Polish engineers in Metal Rolling Dziedzice light alloy based on aluminum , very light, but very sturdy, called alupolonem. [1] That's what I had to ensure that the sum of a large unit of small immersion of not more than 0.45 m, and the bow even only 0.40 m

In March 1939, the Pines held its first drop test of stability and speed of the new unit. They came out perfectly and March 31 speeder was transported by rail to Modlin . There, at the end of April at the Vistula and Narew Bugo- was subjected to a second series of tests, during which easily exceed the speed of 40 km / h. It was found that even at such a high speed hull vibrations are small, which greatly increased the accuracy of the unit installed on the machine guns. At the same time the specific profile of the underwater part of the hull caused the high speed chaser odkosy create high bow, shielding it kind of water curtain which makes the track the unit by the enemy. [1]

In connection with the establishment of a dedicated branch of the Vistula River "KU-30" has been included in its composition and directed to Bydgoszcz .

----- WAR SERVICE -----

In September 1939, he fought in the chaser separate branch of the Vistula River. 2 and 3 September, shrouded by the Vistula River opposite the broken branches Army Pomerania between Chełmno and Fordon . On the night of 3 to 4 September with the entire flotilla was ferrying to Torun , and on September 7 he stood in Wloclawek . September 9 in the morning the fleet set sail up the Vistula, but stopped when another shoals remaining units chaser shortly before noon already approached the same Plock . Despite the massive bombardment of German, in which the crew of "KU-30" corresponds with fire all the time, he managed to swim under the ruins of the two bridges, planted by the retreating Polish troops at the cost of only a few minor przestrzeleń beak.

At 12.45 chaser crew lost radio contact with the "elusive". After two hours, fruitless waiting in the area Kępa Tokarska, moved on up the river. Another obstacle was blown up, the wooden bridge in Wyszogród . Here, the unit came under massive shelling the Germans and suffered many hits series of heavy machine guns, but managed to overcome the burning ruins of the bridge and numerous shoals in the river bed. Wounded is supporting nkm Hotchkiss Sosnowski bosun's mate and one of the sailors. Having been provided with a makeshift clogged injured and approximately 21.00 przestrzelin reached the remaining sailors still in Polish hands Zakroczym (where they were fired upon by mistake by the Poles - fortunately the target). September 10 morning, around 6:00 am, stood in Modlin chaser.

Upon arrival at the Modlin "KU-30" was assigned to 8 battalion of sappers, commanded by Major Valerian Klimowicz. After refueling and ammunition (specially imported from Warsaw and Palmir ) on September 11 began operation in defense of the four local bridges from attacking Luftwaffe . Sosnowski bosun's mate on September 21, despite the wounds, he shot down two German bombers and 24 September - fighter. For these actions, he was promoted to a higher rank. In addition, General Viktor Thommée awarded his senior seafarers and Piotrowski Marian Cross of Valour .

After running out of ammunition to nkm Hotchkiss chaser crew went for regular machine guns. Soon, however, the planned surrender of the fortress of Modlin crew dismantled sailors from the ship nkm and radio, which were later buried by them. Sam chaser was sunk by them on the night of 28/29 September in waters Bugo-Narew.

Germany soon took search of the "KU-30" and the crew chaser, perhaps as a result of information on the specific structure and fighting qualities. In the summer of 1940, they were able to find and bring out the unit. It is known that transported it into the Reich - perhaps in order to make detailed inspection and testing of the alloy used for its construction. Later they were used, including spring of 1945 on the River Havel . The fate of the ship is unknown.

Thanks Freelancer, pretty much enjoying what you've shown so far as well (that ZiS is a nice piece of a truck).

It's funny you mention 1939 as one of your favourite WW2 years, as there was 'not much going on' yet - according to the vast majority who tends to think that WW2 really started in the spring of 1940 (actually a very interresting and also not very popular period of WW2, full of really great equipment and armor, worthy of depicting some day). Thanks, it's really appreciated.

Browsing through 84 pages of this topic to get the proper overview may be a hard thing to do, so feel free to check out our ModDB page. It has the most progress we've done already covered.

I totally agree with you when people tend to think of 1940 as when it all kicked off.

Although poland may not been the most powerful of equipment never the less it's still

very unique which is why I'm looking forward to the mod :) Thanks for the kind words about the ZiS

I'm currently un-wrapping it so there will be updates soon :)

Thanks for the ModDB link will check that out now! :D

Great job on the textures, as usual : you are very talented and this mod is truly unique.

It looks more and more like a pageant rather than a mod "traditional" and I wonder if you do not open a way very little explored until now ...

A kind of interactive virtual museum, to know a time and context: in this case, it is mainly military reconstruction, but can very well consider a project which also includes the civil context, urban and rural, of the history of this nation(i.e).

You found the "missing link" between the game and film. ^ ^

Thanks LODU, that's a high praise and we do really appreciate it. Truth is; the idea of a virtual museum was what inspired us at the beginning. We have managed to realise a lot of what we had in mind; but due to limited activity / members we still lack a lot to reflect the original scope as it was intended.

Speaking of which:

September 1939 Mod is looking for talented modelers / addonmakers who would specialize in aircraft.

Tasks would encompass making lacking models from scratch or / and taking care of making the already made models functional in game.

We have some basic Polish stuff that needs cleaning up (configs, animations, shadow lods etc.), some German and Soviet models from OFP / ArmA that'd need to be converted to A2 standards (texture merging, configs) and a list of vital assets, still without it's 3D representation in game (i.e. Heinkel He-111, Junkers Ju-87 and Ju-52, Lublin RXIII to name the most needed ones)

Some examples of our work and donations that'd need to be taken care of:

Needs converting to A2:

Lecholas is working on a really beautiful piece of terrain, which is also great to enjoy from the air

but in order to do so, we need planes :)

Just a small observation;

The conversion of OFP models would not be a task as tedious as initially thought. In fact, it turned out that the original OFP .pbo's do already work in ArmA II - the only modification needed was to change the 'required version' value to 1.0 ;) The planes are there only as static objects with no user actions available, but it shows that the work required won't be so extensive after all.

This Mod is really very amazing. I hope you could get time to complete it. Good luck!

Recent days gave me a lot to think about in terms of the mod and it's completion. A thorough investigation of everything we have atm reveals a pressing need for reshaping our philosophies and criteria. We're simply stretched too thin to realistically hold on the the original idea of delivering a full-conversion mod. Well, it may happen at some point of time that we pull this off, but if this policy was to be maintained I'd probably would need to announce that we're giving up any release plans for ArmA II in favor for ArmA III based development. Who knows, maybe this will be what appears in one of my future posts sometime soon - this would be the best guarantee of delivering fully polished content, true to our initial intentions, historical criteria and visual / technical standards of the game.

Anyway; for anyone reading the above as 'mod cancelled' - it's surely not. Tommorow I'll post something that will visualise my thoughts a bit more and hopefully you'll be on my side with decisions. ;)

Ok, here it is then, as promised yesterday.

Complete overhaul (in progress) of the models in our storage has started. As I'm practically left alone, with everyone attenting other matters, I will take this extra time to permorm a healing procedure on each and every vehicle model we have. Some mess needs to be sorted out, quality needs to be improved. I have started the process using these two models (Polski Fiat 621L Tur truck and a smaller radio vehicle). Still need to do selections ad shado lods but have already fixed missing faces, cargoview lods, sharp/soft edges, redone proportions and made a complete new set of textures for both models, from scratch, including super shader textures (detailed, but only placeholder for now). Detail level is 200% as it was (resolution) and at least 400% when it comes to execution.

Compare and see for yourself if it's worth an extra wait, even if I would decide today that the mod switches to ArmA III development.

Don't mind if you see a foot sticking out of the driver's cabin. I have reworked the proportions and the front is not as wide as it (wrongly) was before. New character animations will compensate for that.

Anyway, I will continue to work on the rest of our models at my own pace, taking on one at the time. Probnably ArmA III will be around already once I do, but that's no harm and can only benefit the mod as a whole, so I judge after the initial effects. What you guys think?

Funny you should say that. Most WW2 games that include a campaign of any type, only include a German campaign that supposedly spans all the war years and theatres. There were without a doubt many German officers and men who saw combat from 39-45; however only a small percentage saw combat on all the fronts. The simple fact was that as the war progressed it became increasingly more difficult for either side to withdraw large formations from one front to send them thousands of kilometres to fight somewhere else. Nevertheless this did occur in some cases and thus a campaign can hold true.

What most game designers don’t realise is that as a companion campaign it would be just as easy to have an Allied campaign with a Polish unit as its core. Poland was first to fight and its many brave men never surrendered and fought more valiantly then her allies in foreign uniforms. After 39 the campaign can easily move to France where in 1940 over 80,000 Polish troops assembled into 4 makeshift divisions and fought the Germans in French uniforms until evacuated to England. From there the campaign can continue to North Africa with British 8th army where the second Polish corps fought in British uniforms. Polish troops were involved in most if not all Western campaigns and operations… The Allied campaign can always have a decision tree where from 1943 the Allied player can fright as part of the Soviet Army and continue the campaign on the Eastern front.

I for one would be glad to see more recognition given to group of men who fought for 6 long years for freedom of their nation and not to the infamous aggressor who is glorified by so many a games today.
