Stack commands then execute

Recommended Posts

Think this would be a useful addition.

To explain..say you have a squad of 9 you split into 3 color groups of 3 men each.

You can plan your assault by having one group move left and target something , one group moves up the middle and takes cover , the other group flanks right and engages infantry.

Currently as soon as you give the command to move , off they go.

What would be nice would be to give these orders to the 3 groups and nothing would happen until you gave the command to "execute".

This would require event trapping (key strokes) and I don't know if the ArmA2 scripting language is capable of this , but maybe someone with more scripting knowledge could enlighten.

Nope. Ideas and requests all go in the addon request thread. :)

very nice idea though:p. might be possible using waypoint creation by mapclick. dunno how to realize the waiting till all is executed. but i'm no scripter. for a real coder it should be easy.

It could work if we could somehow execute these commands using scripting, e.g. [a1, a2] commandDo "FlankLeft" or something. Then one could simply create a small dialogue screen where the commands could be stacked for individual units, and then tie the 'execute' button either to a custom action or simply to a key to be pressed when needed. :)

This would be pretty awesome, I have to say. Then one could easily create a Dragon Age-styled custom tactics screen as well. E.g. "if enemy contact: halt" or "if enemy contact: fall back". Or, indeed, "if enemy contact: hide". I don't really know why we were never given access to these commands myself, it's quite sad :( but there ya have it.

i would be already happy to just place waypoints ingame on the map just like in the mission editor. with the same options being "behaviour", "speed", "combat mode" and "formation". then u could place a "hold" waypoint too. if in addition to every "hold" waypoint there would be created a action menu entry or something like that to kill the "hold" waypoint u would have the same effect and u could even make several holding points in the waypoint chain. this would allow complexer tactics.
