ladlon 10 Posted January 30, 2011 Hi. I posted this in the Cipher:Takistan thread, but I'm not sure if it's exclusive to Cipher:Takistan, so I'm posting it here in the general section as well... When I play a mission, all the enemy(?) locations are being marked on the map, updated in real time with BLUE DIAMONDS with Xs in them, and labels like 1-1-G. I've never seen something like that before. They are not the usual filled circle type icons of discovered enemies. These appear immediately. The map is filled with them. They don't seem to be the high command icons (RECTANGLES with Xs), and I haven't clicked on anything to bring them up, whatever they are. Is this some new feature or something? It may have been brought on by either a patch update, or one of the mods, but I'm really not clear on what. It's like it's a cheat/debug routine running... showing all the enemy locations in real time, for the whole game. As much as I like 'a bit of help' (I have things like enemy labels on, while I'm still getting good at Arma2), this is a bit much! hehe Anyone run into this, or have any theories on what it might be? I can't imagine this is some 'easy difficulty' thing... as it's showing where everyone is at all times, which is a bit too much of a cheat... plus, it's never been there before. I'm running a few of the standard mods, like Zeus AI... but nothing out of the ordinary. Most recent mods installed were JSRS sound, SLX and the Lingor map (and it's support files). I've recently upgraded A2 and OA to their current version patches.
mosh 0 Posted January 30, 2011 We would need to know all your addons that are loaded... and blue would be friendly markers, red would be enemy. I know ACE adds them (with the ability to turn them off) but I am not familiar with other addons that might do it also.
ladlon 10 Posted January 30, 2011 Hi, Mosh. I've listed the main ones. The other mods I'm running are Little Birds, Fast Rope, LandTexture, Saku LightFX, GL4, and the regular maps (Duala, etc)... but this wasn't happening until I did my core app updates (A2/OA), so I don't supect the older mods are to blame. No, that's the weird thing... these aren't the regular map icons... Yes, normally, blue would be my side, but in this case, it's not. They are not the standard icons, but instead are blue diamonds with Xs, updated continually, appearing on the map immediately (without being discovered). I confirmed that they are in fact enemy locations, as the regular enemy icons appear over top these new icons once I spot them in the game. It really is like it's some debugging tool, showing you the current locations of all the enemy units, like a cheat. Labels are things like 1-1-B... and sometimes a name after that in brakets. Unless some new feature was introduced in the later patches, I suspect this IS some sort of debugging thing. Definitely was never there previously... just the regular red/blue oval icons, when you actually discovered the enemy.
bwc153 10 Posted January 30, 2011 GL4 does it, and says what their orders are too. IE: Supressed, Searching Building, Guarding, etc.
ladlon 10 Posted January 30, 2011 Hey, bwc153... Ya? Odd. I had that one installed a long time ago, and it wouldn't do that. Maybe it wasn't fully working up until now. Is there a way to turn that off? I mean, aside from deleting the mod! hehe Now that I've installed JSRS and WarFX, my game completely locks up my computer after a few minutes of playing. I often get an error 'sound/' is not a class ('fireLightDuration' accessed) at the start of the game, so I supect it might be that tripping things up. Anyone know what mod that error message is referring to? I'll take out GL4, JSRS and WarFX, see how it runs, then add each one back and see what happens with each. dale0404 5 Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) Hiya ladlon, its definately the GL4 mod from my experience. Getting those icons turned off is something I did not figure out as at the time I was trying loads of different mods to see which ones I liked. Maybe ask in the GL4 thread?? http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=92269 Edited January 30, 2011 by dale0404 Added link
ladlon 10 Posted January 30, 2011 Hi, dale0404. Yes, you guys are totally right. It was GL4. Guess it just didn't kick in properly until now (after my OA update). I removed it, and am putting each of the other new mods in, one at a time, to see if that freeze up and audio error still happens. I supect the JSRS thing is causing that. Once I get that all settled, ya, I'll post on the GL4 thread, now that we know what it is! Thanks guys!
lsp 10 Posted January 30, 2011 its gl4 in order to use it without seeing the markeres you have to unpbo it and remove the folder
ladlon 10 Posted January 30, 2011 Hi, everyone... Just an update. It seems you CAN get rid of that feature, without removing GL4, if this thread I found is saying what I think it is saying: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1605122&postcount=1540 (Just in case there's anyone else wondering about this like I am)
