Arma 2 CO Menu Video (and Music)

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to change the background menu music and video? I'm tired of seeing the Khe Sanh and Takistan and want to see/hear the Arma 2 Demo's background menu video and music, which, in my opinion, was much better than the current ones.

What do you want to view the background video for? Don't you usually start the game to actually... play it... instead of staring at the main menu?

If you put this startup parameter on your ARMA 2 shortcut, it will make the game load faster and disables the background videos altogether. At least that way you don't need to see Khe Sanh and Takistan that much:

You mean there's more to do in this game?

Seriously though, aren't those intros defined in the island config somewhere? When I load up the game with 100 islands, I get a much better variety (for the 2 seconds I'm on the menu). I think it has to do with the last island used... So maybe just load up some other islands OP?

Absolutely!

The "intros" - (there can be more than one per island) are embedded in the islands/terrains themselves... Easiest way to check them out is to load the island in the editor, then just quit straight back out - after a quick loading pause you'll see the intro associated with that terrain on the main menu...

To directly answer the OP's question - because of this "embedded" bit, it wouldn't be easy to simply "lift" the intros from the A2 Demo - probably not impossible, but it'd be a bit of a fuss to do...

PS - just in case any of the newer guys haven't noticed.... these intro's aren't "videos" like you get in most other games - they're actually "missions" running live - in real time - on the terrain in question... sortof like a mission where the "player" is actually a scripted roving camera watching the scenery, or AI running around... so, unlike other games which have impressive videos, but the gameplay fails to live up to the promise, with BIS - what you see IS what you get... :D
