FourDoorSaloon 10 Posted January 25, 2011 I just ordered a bunch of computer parts to build a pc and ive read that this was a big problem about 14 months ago. Has it been fixed yet?
M9ACE 0 Posted January 25, 2011 Do you have a 64-bit operating system or a 32-bit operating system? In one of the patches, the game was made Large Address Aware (LAA). I currently do not have a system with a large amount of memory, so I cannot comment on how well this is working. Perhaps someone else can share their first hand experience with us regarding this issue. [71721] Game is now Large Address Aware, should improve stability and allow using more RAM with 64b OS. [71543] File cache size increased a lot on systems with 4 GB RAM or more.
suma 8 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Yes, this has been fixed quite a long ago. As an example, I am using ArmA 2 on two systems with 64b OS, one with 8 GB RAM second with 12 GB (and the primary reason for such huge amounts of RAM is to make sure the game is compatible with such setup, I have usually around half of this free). FourDoorSaloon 10 Posted January 26, 2011 One more question. I read that Arma 2/OA only uses 2 cores or less. Has this been patched to utilize 4 cores? Sorry bout all the useless nonsense questions but its sad that this game has been out for 2 years and people are still having problems with it to this day. Nutlink 10 Posted January 26, 2011 As far as I know it's been able to use multiple cores for quite some time, if not since launch. Hence the cpucount= command.
FourDoorSaloon 10 Posted January 26, 2011 Alright that's what i figured but I have read 10+ threads with people stating that it only uses 2 cores but I guess they just busta's. ---------- Post added at 12:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 PM ---------- As far as I know it's been able to use multiple cores for quite some time, if not since launch. Hence the cpucount= command. If you don't mind me asking how well does the game run for you? What res, and what setting like low normal high etc... And did you have to do anything special or did it run good out of the box. Also are you running latest beta drivers or what? Sorry bout the rant but im just bothered that my PC wont run it right when all my stuff arrives in the next few days.
