first of all don't provoke here (without all discussion about my and CS weapons level of realism of details noted by Flashpoint-Ru members (who know weapons the best because of country of orign of AK/RPK and mandatory military service there, of course with some exeptions like net haters for example present on east-Europe forums , cause on west people have fun, on east some have hate ) as for example RPK drum upside down)

Looks great John. :)

They've got a real Russian feel to it, unlike the vanilla units.

Also glad you're addin Vilas' weapons, high level of detail/quality plus fits the other weapons ingame.

I really do not understand you, since Google translates the text is bad!

I do not mean to offend you, I just like the weapons from the RH more than yours ... that's all

What Vilas wanted to say is that he doesnt understand why you would prefer some weapons that are mostly ported from CS ( Counterstrike Source ) over his weapons that are modelled completely new and more realistic.

He also said that even the community on flashpoint.ru agrees and they arent easy to please as they look at every detail.

Personally lookwise i agree Robert Hammers weaposn look good but Vilas are more realistic, yet even there i see bit room for improvement.

CS RPK has for example magazine upside down, feeding ground not rifle

CS creators and modelers not always took enough care about east weapons, west are probably good (although HK 416 should have HK stock, in past i have seen CS weapons mirrored like MP7 etc. , not natural proportions in CS to fit CS first person view angle etc. )

CS creators are artists, but not engineers nor military related people

it is just one example, it is like BIS SVD in "safety position and cannot fire"

i don't want list all, simply i stay away from comments unless someone sticks that my are worse

I guess it's down to personal preference, in the OFP days I prefered RHS units over ORCS etc. RH's CS imports to look nice and shiney, and people like shiney things regardless if its accurate or not. :P I don't think he was trying to insult you Vilas, it doesn't help when English is neither of you speak english as a first language. So easy take things out of context. That said Vilas love you're weapon packs and can't wait for the update for these units to come out. :)

Very good johncage very very good ! I very like this :)

Just a little note :

The Russians don't use the "AK47" or "AK47S", but "AKM" or "AKMS". Since 1959 :)

AK47

AKM w/ GP25

Also, they use AK74P (in Vilas Pack).

Best Regard and good luck for future release :) If you want some more pics => MP ;)

Yes : The "plum" AK-74 went into production by late 1985.

These guys are looking great now!

Did you intentionally give certain units slightly different tones in their camo? I was looking at some units just now and some of their uniforms look more 'faded' than the others, some slightly more saturated etc (the Automatic Rifleman and Vityaz in particular look more 'greyed' than the others, looks cool). A nice touch if it was intentional.

Speaking of Vityaz, I sometimes get an error with them;

Cannot load material file mat[] =

{"ca\characters2\rus\data\soldier_co_flora_vsr_vest.rvmat"

yes, it's reflective of the variety in russian uniforms. and thanks for reporting the error. it looks like an issue with the wound textures.

alright, thanks for the suggestions. but was ak74p common in the 90s?

yes, as said above

but i would say 1986

so for your knowledge

AK47 - produced ca. 1949 in first receiver

AK47 - with known the best milled receiver with cubic cut-in is ca. 1950-1954/1957 depending of country

AKM - 1957/1985 as i know

AK74- since ca. 1975, first series had AKM gas pipe (i will do such model too)

AK74 in plum dark plastic - since ca. 1986, but stock do not collapse , it's fixed position

AK74M - black plastic, folded stock - since ca. 1991 till today

http://www.cruffler.com/trivia-March01.html

for people from "west" all our east armies are connected to "ak-47 iy kay forty seven" which is for us funny, cause most popular weapon ever is AKM/AKMS (no matter of different stocks between countries)

AKMS was base weapon here back from 60s to 00s (in Russsia 5.45 and AK74)

AK47 was phased out in mid 60s (in many countries of Warsaw-Pact)

In Chechnya some russian special forces used AKM varaints (and as far as I can tell still do so).

Basically for the same reasons why US units reinvented M14 variations and german BW G3's:

lack of punch in 5.45 and 5.56 calibers.

The AKM is also very effective with subsonic ammunition and silencer.

My 5 Cents ;)

Great addon, by the way...

High quality and variation but I would recommend to add some dirt to the uniforms, to make them look more worn.

I know you're such a reference in Eastern weapons Vilas :notworthy:but are you sure that AKS74 (folded stock) in plum version did not exist. Just look at the 4th picture posted by Kis4m3. I was thinking that plum had gradualy replaced wood handguards and grips (even on AKS74 ) until AK74M arrived. But I may be wrong.

Edit : In fact, I don't know if it's an AKS74 plum or AK74M in the 4th picture of Kis4m3's message...

In the Russian army, We see everything. SVD with "black plastic polymer handguard" and "stock wood," for example, so I do not see why we wont see a "handguard plum" on a AKS74 :)

SVD.jpg

Edit : Time for me, 1986 for the start of production :) Thanks Vilas.
