ArmA1 F-22 Conversion (Personal Use)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've recently converted the ArmA 1 F-22 that was made by scars into A2 (personal use), and I'm currently tweaking the config file so that it's easier to handle and easier to use. However, the plane's speed declines too quickly when turning, can anyone help?

Also, I'm wondering if anyone know how to contact SCARs or can act on his behalf that whether or not I might be able to release this beautiful plane for ArmA2.

Thanks all

Send Placebo a PM. But only do it once. There is a tread around here that showes what to do to ask for admin help to get ahold of addon makers.

Doenst the F-22 work just fine in ArmA II, only without a pilot? (Which is a 5-second-config-tweak, or a 5-second-init-line-tweak)

That didn't work for me but I got it working now and tweaked it a bit, but the handling is a little weird, (I'm flying at 750+ km speed then do a 360 turn , the speed drops down to about 160-250ish) which seems a little wrong to me. So I was thinking if any config writers can share some insight.

Also I'm working on a GBU-39 model that I hope might be incorporated to make a ground strike variant if I get permission to release it.

You cant really alter the handling with editing the model. Config values are about 20% of the problem.

Do the bomb bays actually open when launching the missiles?

Psst, you're about thirty times over the image size limit there. :p

"Launching missiles requires opening the weapons bay doors for less than a second, while the missiles are pushed clear of the airframe by hydraulic arms." according to wikipedia.

Nifty stuff. Of course it can mount weapons on pylons, but that negates the point of being a stealth fighter.

EDIT: You're asking about the addon aren't you? Ah... :o

@Kage74: Yes, the weapon bay does work

Currently waiting for reply from moderator, but I think there's no reason why I shouldn't post some screenies

Edit: very well, pics removed

Well, except the forum rules :p

§20) Posting addon/mod other content without permission

[...]

This isn't just limited to re-using content in addons/mods/missions however, it's not acceptable to edit someone's work without permission and then to post screenshots of it on the forums (even if the edited addon/mod is purely for personal use), it's also not acceptable to edit someone's work, or use someone's work in any way that you don't have permission for and then to create videos which you post on these forums, doing any of the above without the permission of the original creators risks a permanent ban, for individuals, for whole mod teams or squads.

Um, anyone know what is the procedure for securing release permission in the case a long missing author?

I'm only asking because I don't see anything about this in the forum rules, I was thinking perhaps the Moderator can give a consent or something, maybe?

in case the original author is no longer in the community I believe it normal that most people would wait 3-6 months to allow time for that author to return.

Scars is pretty much active as far as I know and I had requested permission to release the F22 for arma2 on release in June 2009. (assumed no response was a answer that he would re-make himself for Arma2)

Scars will release when/if he wants, the Jet works just fine in arma2 with little to no errors.

You need to alter the cfg/flight model to effect the handling.

Thanks guy, still waiting for reply.

Well, the question that I was asking when I start this thread was that:

Because the bird was handling very well, so I tuned up the aileron and elevator sensitivity so it's more responsive, but when turning, the speed drops too rapidly, for instance, when the plane is traveling at 750 km/h. If I do a sharp 360 turn, airspeed drops down to about 250, and the same turn in the GLT F-16, it only drops down to about 350. I've tried to change the Mass of the model, that didn't work well either, so is there like a config line that gives the bird more power?

so what you are saying is you have opened the odol and are editing the LODs?

I'm sorry, I'm new at this, can you try rephrasing that so I might understand, please. and if I'm interpreting this right, I haven't actually modified the model in anyway but changed the mass value in the geometry.

If that's a breach of the rule (which I don't see how it is since it's for my own use) then I apologize, but I'm still hoping someone might help me with my question about boosting the power of an aircraft.

ODOL is the binarized model format of MLOD, the format used for BIS's p3ds.

It's best, I think, to stop until you get permission. Maybe in the meantime you can pick up an addon that you can easily get permission to do experiments on. Depending on the original author's political leanings, he might be more inclined to let you at his files if he doesn't believe you have been tampering with is addon without permission.

I find it slightly disturbing that you might have unbinned an p3d without actually knowing what ODOL is :p

Roger that, I think I will just stick with my little mock up plane and mess with that for now.

Hope you can get in with the maker as i would like to see this F-22 in OA, as there are alot of in the dust addons out there, all could be in the fixed up stages as long as its an green light with the maker in most ways. As long as you have tryed to get permission and credit goes to the maker. As Eble said give or take on some time for the original author to get back with you. In most ways the community is understanding about getting premission on addons.

Yeah, thanks.

I have a feeling that my PMs aren't getting out, cause I sent Placebo and Scars PMs and someone else, non of which have gotten back to me yet so I've sent scars an e-mail today, I think there's a problem with my account here.

Defs contact Placebo if you haven't already.

I did that, but the thing is that I have reasons to believe that my PM system is broken because after I send something, it doesn't save a sent message.

Just to make sure, rstratton, I sent a reply to your PM about 36 hours ago, did you get anything?

Placebo is a busy man. He will get back to you when he can.

I just want to say, nes4day, that I appreciate your attitude. It's community minded and friendly. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or problems that you think I can help you with. I have never made a jet addon but maybe I can direct you toward the correct information while you're building your test vehicle.

As Max just said, Placebo is a very busy man with god know how many PMs per day. And if the PM subject says something like 'Hey!' or 'HELP!!!!', chances are very good the PM is trashed. Don't laugh, I get a lot of such meaningful PMs too.

If Scars hasn't answered your PMs then probably for two reasons:

1) He doesn't understand what you want from him (as far as I remember his english wasn't that good)

2) No answer = hell no!

And besides that, as said before already. If you have no plans to release this addon (with permission of course) then there is no need to discuss this any further.

We do not allow threads about private or 'underground' projects which the public never will see.
