Hey wait a minute... It's ArmA II or CoD:WaW? ;)

Just kidding, and wanted to express that I'm happy with maps like these showing up. Splendid and definately something out of the ordinary; not just a random bash of default objects :)

btw; about those trenches; did you just paint them on the heightmap or are those some custom objects somehow integrated into the map? We at '39 mod are about to start working on something similar and are just wondering ;)

Yes alot of custom Objects is what we use. Thx to the rest of the Mod-crew. :)

And those trenches is a very hard to build to get it to work with the terrain and make them look "Perfect". Also it is very time consuming. VIS3 is not my favorite editor if I try to say it in a nice way ;)

But I try to do my best. Just wanted to post some media so you all out there dont think this mod is dead.

Its not!

:D

Looking really amazing and good that you take time and put details in the map, makes it more immersive. Everything is looking really great.

Its a combination of both, heightmap has the shape of the trenches,

and with the custom objects you simulate the dug up sand/dirt walls.

Its a trade off because you'll need some resolution on the heightmap,

so its very hard to use this technique on large maps.

I hope you'll find the right balance to achieve something similair.

Thank you very much Waxbutter for having addressed this issue for me. I hope we'll be able to keep the balance, the area to be depicted is a 2sq.km fortified region, so not really a big map, maybe something the size of Utes.

Thx again

At Tarawa the Japanese army used a lot of underground defensive positions, both in natural caves and man-made tunnels. Have you found any solutions for those in the mod? If so, could you please show a sneak peek?

No sweat if not, though. By the pics the maps still look gorgeous

PS. Will you be including any of those plants as editor placable objects? Any pacific island civilian units in the works?

Some SP missions would be nice, as Invasion1944 has. I wonder about AI support as well as I tend to be an off-line player.

Damn, this looks nice.

Gathering up a big, big WWII collection composed of the best mods. This is surely making it in.

they release it when everything is done, otherwise they may fuck up something in the rush to make the deadline.

Lol, great, no way to know the kilometres? Is there enoguh water for ship battles? Are the islands in real scale? lol

Peleliu : 2.5x2.5 km (512x512px*5meters) (Progress 80%)

Tarawa : 5x5 km (1024x1024px*5meters) (Progress 75%)

Guadalcanal : 20x20 km (2048x2048px*10meters) (Progress 30%)

Birma : 20x20km (2048x2048px*10meters) (Progress 0%)

We did test real life scaled terrain and its huge ingame,

eats alot of time to get from A to B.

So the terrain is scaled down, for the following reasons :

- game engine handling, (less memory usage)(good FPS)

- gameplay, players arent spread out too much, greater change of running into enemy troops.

- Higher resolution on terrain vertex's so we can use trenches drawn into the terrain heightmap.

The smaller maps are great for infantry battles and offcourse the larger maps support larger battles (Ships Airplanes Tanks etc.).

The challange always is the balance between :

Small-Map/HighResolution and

Large-Map/Medium to Low Resolution.

Thanks for your answer,

What's the stasus of the models? (in %)

Why not split the mod in two versions? where there will be the first Tarawa or Peleliu with infantry and even some Japanese model, and in the second Burma,Guadalcanal and the rest of the mod? !

That can calm our bloodlust in Pacific! eheh

p.s. sorry for the bad English
