Hell in the Pacific MOD

Recommended Posts

I think I sent you a PM few weeks ago about it, and you said you would discuss about it with the rest of the team.

I was expecting an answer, I didn't think you forgot it lol.

Anyway, my offer still stands :)

Yes could be... to much going on with the mod so I forgot. But now the rest of the mod-team should know about your offer. :)

Great, i dunno what your offer was, but i think besides SP missions (or while doing them), you could make some "real" promotional videos, not only MP footage like we can see today, with some kind of story board. Just my two cents :)

yeah, the pb is just that I dunno how to make cinematic - and don't understand with tutorial on the intrnet.

what I need is someone to explain things to me, would be much more esay.

anyway, my offer was to create SP missions (and maybe a campaign) to come along with the release of the mod.

Was this paint scheme used in the pacific theatre? It looks a lot like the dark 'gull grey' over white 'Atlantic' scheme.

Beautiful model and textures though - I'm consistently impressed by the work your mod produces.

According to Babylon, this was a paint scheme of the planes of USS Bunker Hill (CV-17).

If wikipedia is right, the Bunker Hill spent it's whole career in the Pacific.

Babylon might correct me if I cited him wrong :)

And now... back to my 'favourite' job: bugfixing!

Cheers,

D.

AH, I got confused, and I'm still getting confused . Yes it's atlantic paint scheme and no it's not from the bunker hill (yes I sed that but I got confused with something else, like always) but it's from the CVE-29 USS Santee. The USS Santee in 1943 was sended to the pacific theater.

* History Time *

"Beginning in February, Santee was sent to the Pacific. After making a transport run to Pearl Harbor, the ship joined other escort carriers heading to the heaviest action in the Pacific. The ship took part in air operations over Hollandia, Kwajalein, Guam and Morotai. By October, the ship saw damage caused by kamikaze and torpedo. In November, she went home to San Diego extensive repairs. She returned to combat in time to support the invasion of Okinawa. After hostilities ceased, the ship served as transport for returning troops. In October 1946, the ship was put into reserve and struck from Navy rolls in March 1959."

Now, I don't know if the paintcheme have not been changed... but according with my source this specific paintscheme is from 1943.

Also I don't know anymore if this texture will be implemented, since I'm quite confused. Shame because is a quite cool lookin paintscheme. I will probably aim to the classic pacific ones.

I agree with Dimitri; keep it regardless. So long as there's at least one true pacific-theatre paint scheme I don't see that anybody has grounds to complain about it's availability in the mod - likewise for the Op. Torch scheme you did before.

Hell, if it was up to me I'd be including Royal Navy skins for it even though our 'Martlets' had different engine cowlings and we never sent them further than Sri Lanka and the Indian Ocean, until the RN's later FM-1/FM-2 variants (Wildcat Mk.V/Mk.VI) were sent to the Pacific. :D

Looks pretty good! Always been a fan of 'D-Day stripes' on planes :D

Remodelling it as a Mk.IV or a Mk.V? Martlet Mk.IV was an F4F-4, just with a Wright Cyclone engine and new cowl (used mostly between 1942 and 1944 - they were renamed from Martlet to Wildcat in Jan 1944 AFAIK). Wildcat Mk.V was identical to the American FM-1 - effectively a F4F-4 with 4 machineguns instead of 6 (but more ammo) and rocket/bomb racks, but with same Twin Wasp engine and cowl as American Wildcats (used Jan 1944 onwards)

The modelling work required to convert your current F4F-4 model to either variant is roughly equal I reckon; so wondered which way you were considering going. IIRC both marks saw action in the Atlantic (including Op. Tungsten, where Tirpitz was sunk) and European theatres (in support of D-Day etc.). However, I'm not sure if Mk.IVs went to the Pacific theatre (have seen some web sources that suggest they did so aboard RN carriers like HMS Victorious, loaned to the US Pacific fleet, but no photos that support it), however they may have seen action against the Japanese in the Indian Ocean during 1943. Mk.Vs deployed to the Pacific theatre with 890 Squadron in 1944 (pics related).

---------- Post added at 12:30 ---------- Previous post was at 12:21 ----------

I got a couple of questions

1. Is there going to be a class-A or Blue dress

2. exept for the normal HBT uniform with a camo helmet cover is there also going to be a HBT USMC camo uniform?

3 Is there going to be an NOT-reinforced airborne M-42 because after the war in Europa some Paratroopers were send out to the pacific thearte like the 11 Airborne division and the 101st Airborne division

4. is there going to be a 75 mm Pack howitzer

5. is there going to be an GMC DUWK amphobious vehicle

I forgot one question is there going to be an "Cushman" AIrborne scooter (US) or an "Welbike" Airborne motor (UK) what also was used for siganls to report one message from the fron to the HQ so not only Airborne used them but they also were used in the pacific by "Runners" the cushman was also used by the US aribrone that dropped in the pacific war after the liberation of Europa see link
