Do forgive me but shouldn't the correct designation be ZSU-57-2, instead of ZPU-57? As far as I know, ZPU designation was only used with ZPU-1 -2 and -4 AAGs.

So I'm guessing, ZSU = self-propelled while ZPU is not.

Looks ok - One nitpick only;

What's goin' on with their hands? It looks like there's a shader applied; which should rather be used for metal surfaces I think...

The effect is weird, like their hands were oiled..

I helped out with the Falcon 4 Balkan war mod. One thing I found interesting while researching weapons systems from the conflict was the Serbian home-grown Pracka ("Slingshot") mobile anti-aircraft missile platform.

They took a mobile AAA carriage and replaced the mounted AAA gun with an R-60 (AA-8) launcher rack. It is similar in concept to an Avenger or Chaparral ADS. These were apparently used around airbases during the conflict, but one could easily imagine a mobile AAM platform for convoy escort, etc.

I don't think too many of them were made. Very little information exists as to its effectiveness, but it is referenced in Jane's as well as other sources. They are rumored to have also developted an R-73 (AA-11) version, but that cannot be verified.

Yes, that's the aircraft launcher rack mounted onto a makeshift frame! It looks like it could be modded rather easily by using an existing vehicle that is modded to use a different turret... perhaps the stationary Igla turret on top of the arty carriage?

This blog post has pics of what appears to be a more sophisticated mount onto a wheeled vehicle. This one also has booster rockets:

:D That looks like they took the rack/mount off of an aircraft, flipped it upside down, and attached it to some welded pieces of metal that they stuck on an AAA frame. :D

Well it was quite common during the Balkan war to make self made weapons. Especially in Croatia that was under Weapons embargo, and had only a few light weapons, people invented the craziest stuff. I know of of an event where a few people sunk a serbian ship with a RC submarine. The submarine was loaded with explosives. They waited for the ship, put the submarine in the water and steered it to the ship. As soon as it was there they detonated the charge remotedly making this little submarine a torpedo. Now who wouldn´t want to have such a thing? ^^

Not to hijack the thread, but:

I will always be impressed with the weapons constructed and manufactured by the underground during WW2. It is hard to imagine that people in an occupied country were actually able to make weapons from scratch using parts of common everyday-use hardware, or develop a whole underground network of production facilities for custom designed grenades,machine pistols,flamethrowers etc..

Simple but fairly accurate Mortars and grenade/molotov throwers were manufactured using car parts (leaf springs). Damn, these people even managed to build their own armoured cars (1,2)

It's courage and ingenuity as wee see it now, some designs, as this AA launcher may look funny - but suppose men are capable of inventing something from nothing when their survival is at stake...

Hey, i'am realy interesstent in this project, because i read a lot about the balkan conflict and watch maybee 10H(to be realistic) film material from the conflict zone. (And it seams like that this topic is still political charged)

It also seams so, that there were alot of irregular forces involved. Al-Quaida brigades(what was the trigger for the first one), weekend tschetniks and neo nazis from western europe fight for ustascha or fun and mujahideen from turkey fight for the bosnian and/or albanian side. Also a lot of volunteers from other nations, especial albanians from western nations join the UCK "Freedom fighters".

Most of these Groups used equitment from Germany(because it was a draft nation, had a lot of reject military equitment) and Switzerland(same case as germany) M1955 Camouflage and even reject east german stuff. Together with all kind of weapons. you know, zastava, some russian aks, albanian Type-56 aks, RPD's, RPK's, RPG's, G3A3's and even some weapons from world war 2 like the STGW 44.

Do you guys have these things in concept?

I hope you do release some of the vehicles on there own. Love to have missions with all of these. maybe when you finish the ZPU57 or MLBT.
