Manhattan Mission - Recover downed crew

Recommended Posts

In the Manhattan mission I've destroyed the main base and id'ed the insurgent leader and then get tasked with recovering a downed helicopter crew. Problem is that when I get to the crash site that is a couple kilometres out to sea the only thing there is the tail of the Mi-8 sticking out of the water and no sign of any crew.

I've searched the net to check if I'm doing something wrong but I can't find any mention of this part of Manhattan mission.

I'm not sure if it's relevant or not but I'm playing via Steam patched to 1.08.

Any help would be appreciated 'cause it feels like I've been stuck on this mission for a week...oh wait I have! :s

I believe those are assigned by the SECOPs module so it can be problematic as it is randomly placed.

SecOps are generated by Secondary Operations Module as a little side tasks in a campaign and correct me if I am wrong, but they only may exist if campaign is played in singleplayer mode and never if campaign is played cooperatively in multiplayer.

I've also heard they usually happen around 400-500m away from player. So my advice would be in this case to avoid beeing near water when that task is triggered. Don't know what triggers it though, maybe time (see gameclock when it comes) or maybe it comes soon after some other task is completed like Insurgent Leader task. Anyone know about this better this?

One question. I'm playing Harvest Red campaign (patch 1.8, singleplayer, difficulty regular) and I'm in last mission. I'm pretty sure that I've never got any SECOPs mission in my walkthrough. Am I doing something wrong? Easy difficulty? Different patch?

Seems like not too many knows the answer for this. Probably people spending their most of their forum time in scripting sub forum know this, but meanwihile my advice is to try with Expert difficulty (I always use it and nothing else). Pretty sure it is not about the patch version.

Also it would be logical to offer SecOps for team that has completed other tasks in that mission with good results, I mean also do those tasks too that are optional so maybe they will offer SecOps when you are they know your can be trusted to complete them.

To test if they are time triggered, leaving singleplayer mission running for a night might reveal this.

i think the secops module works more like a kind of HQ in the campaign, it redirects you to the crashed MI8. the MI8 is already ingame and shot down by a chedaki AA-specialist on the hill behind the airfield, thats why the crash site is random.

the chopper not spawned like normal "secops" with the secops module.

Chances are, the chopper never got shot down in your game. it only happend to me once in all times I played manhattan anyway.

It gives you support too(when you press 0-8-"support requests") for missions and as reward.

playing manhattan through the editor is a lot smoother but sometimes I dont get the support :S really irritating to cover that much ground without the Venom
