Researchers turn bacterial colonies into logic gates

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm not an educated man. In my day a university education wasn't a 'right' - it was something 'toffs' did...

Having said that I once read a book about logic gates and to my horror I understood some of it.

So my take on this is that it paves the way for a bacteria based cpu?

In that case, the BIG question is ...

Will a bacteria based cpu improve my frame rates in ARMA42?:)

Pfft, the UK launched Skynet years ago. I fear bacteria based circuit boards...

So does this mean that computers may well get actual viruses now?

(horrible pun alert)

As i understand it (which may mean nothing since im unbelivebly tired) it will change computing as we know it.

This is if these new logic gates can give different values ie 1-9 etc

Our computers only understand yes/no true/false 010101010101 on/off

Whereas (if its what i think it might be) these could end up giving 1,5,6,8. thus speeding things up and reacting more like a human brain.

This is all based off a program i watched but cant remember at all but something like this. Hopefully someone can confirm .
