but you could release another WIP-version of the map... it doesnt have to be finnished, at all you could always work further and further on it. the progress compared to the last release must be immense already.

We could....But as already stated,We won't.

This time the mod is going through an extensive internal testing phase.

Being tested,Tweaked and refined before release.

So the final product is as polished and bug free.

Banging the map out as soon as rip finishes it without going through full testing does not fall into this plan.

We aim to bring the huge map,New features & loads of content to this community in one simple instalment.

Not lots of little bits!

Anyways,Lets not discuss this further,As I would hate to keep repeating the same thing over and over again.

Updates after the Version 1 release via incremental patching? Yes,That is entirely possible.

Releasing the map, And the rest after? Nope.

how long does it take to cross the english channel? because if I make a mission with airborne and I let em start on Ramsburry airfield (if it's in there, prob is) and fly to normandië I don't want us sitting for like 30 minutes in the airplane. realistic but not really fun :P

It does take a while to be honest.

Perhaps you could Set up a teleport to transport cargo?

That way you can set it up where you want to to start coming in from, (allowing for time getting ready) and when you teleport you already on the way to your target.

i think 15-20 minutes might be a good estimate.

What one person doesn't want, is another's desire.

Last go with a C47 from there to Pointe du Hoc was roughly 30 minutes.

Warping across would remove all the fun and excitement.

Realistically, Allied aircraft would have to take out some German radar installations to avoid detection before a jump. Then you would have to hope and pray a 109 or 190 ( the few that remain ) doesn't tear your ass up as you sneak across the channel. Then when you reach the coastline, you have to avoid flak.

So put the warps in, on your own missions if you wish. To me that sounds like taking all the fun and excitement out of a plane load full of your team speak buddies as your fighter escorts take out enemy fighters and attempt to make it to your destination.

To each his own.

I can understand that some people like it. I mean 10 - 15 minutes I don't really mind, then you'll have time to sort out the acre channels and stuff.

This was the thrill and excitement I experienced each time back in those good old days... :) Anyone remember B-17 Flying Fortress on Amiga? If the same feel was to be recreated here, I'm all for it! ;)

I dunno man, I'm trying to give options to everyone. The map is so diverse people can do anything on it. If you want bombing runs, large scale landing ops, full scale campaigns, It's there for you. If you want to fight over a street COD style, you got it. If you want to sit somewhere with your sniper rifle and pick off people, then why not.

Anti shipping missions, you got it. Tank battles. Fight between towns done deal. Hedgerows, bunkers, rail yard fights, furballs, whatever you can think of, you can do it all on this map.

The glory of patience is you get it all. It takes time to manufacture a map like this. It's not far off.

Keep it Gigantic. Adds another element of gameplay, you just sat there for 30 minutes flying across, you're more likely going to be switched on and ready to fight if you know that it takes ages to get back to the AO. Also the anticpation will be great.

Yeah - also you have a lot more time to really annoy the pilot with 'Are we nearly there yet?' !!

This sounds brilliant. Perhaps in these types of mission the creator could set it up so the briefing and planning is largely carried out in flight...if the conversation along the way isn't considered stimulating enough.

How about the stewardess shows everyone where the emergency exits are, how to fasten your seat belts, where the breathing mask and flotation devices are.

You dont need to set it up. Thats what you have the Map button and the markers, just have you TL or whatever brief you and plan your misson there. Usually it helps to have a general idea so the pilot(s) know where they are going to go.

Just made me realize too, that if you are pinned down it's possible that you may need to wait 20-30 minutes for reinforcements. Should add to some good action.

I wouldn't worry about trying to make it smaller, yes the trip might get older after a few times but misson makers can always add teleport scripts and such, so the Map makers shouldn't limit themselves by that.

Well exactly, it's just that in my experience games tend to start with a plan and briefing before it starts and then more planning and organisation on the ground.

Mission makers could 'set it up' so that people are already where they need to be to get straight on the aircraft and then briefing and mission planning can continue from there.

Unless of course there's more to the mission with operations to prepare for the invasion and such...

Rip31st can you say something more about yours armor penetration system? It >really<works? I mean, without hitpoints. And are there ricotchets, that i love? And is it take into account angle of hit? (its important). Im very curious, how it works. ;)
