Fields of War: Normandy 1.00 and beyond WIP thread (formerly The 31st Normandy mod)

Recommended Posts

And what if for such BIG card to make a mode "Warfare"?

Warfare on such a large map? I suppose if you played within the confines of the recommended amount of towns. ~30 max? Most Warfare maps are running 20-30 in that range. I think that's about all a stout server can handle. It's the AI that kill the servers. Once you have a supply chain of AI up and running, and AI running all over the map setting off triggers spawning more AI in towns across the map, the servers get bogged down running warfare. Tested on our previous large map. I think we were able to run 30 towns.

So I suppose you could create many warfare missions in many different areas of the map. There are several hundred towns to choose from.

Now a player VS player campaign with a frontal system without the AI...now were talking. 128 slots, Side VS side. Axis VS Allied. Team that captures a certain percentage of all the towns wins...maybe say the winning criteria is capturing 180 of 200 towns/cities.

Something like that could be very exciting. :D

It is exact! For this purpose that it is required to pass such mission not less than year))

But I consider to you it is not necessary to think now of missions, now the main thing a card and the conflicting parties!

That is awesome, oh man, I have a terrible case of anticipation for this mod.

Cherbourg might be a bit to far south for its inclusion, but no worries.

I was wondering if the normandy map will include Caen and Cherbourg?

These are both on the map. The French side covers roughly St.Malo in the West (or south west) all the way to Amiens-Dunkerque line in teh East. The english side of the channel covers all teh southern England from east of Bornemouth (on the channel coast). In the North direction it goes a bit past London.

EDIT: What I looked at a map..Because iirc it had the island of Jersey too, the west limit is further west...more like around Bath in England.

If you thought the tanks were perfect last time wait til this next release.

Improvements have been applied that make the tanks something truely special.

Ah, tomolyons.. It's just a small obstacle. easy to overcome.

I did not have a clue how to texture back in 2007 too.:P Until I learned (and I still do/need to)

Everyone starts somewhere. These forums contain enough info and insight from the veterans to get the basics in grip. It's not a painless process at the beginning, true, but once you get something done yourself -> the pleasure and satisfaction is n-times greater than if you get sth from someone just by asking and waiting ;) Believe me.

Good luck :)

I want to learn how to do custom textures , but I think you don't need textures :(

There is always room for more help to be honest.

Textures are a funny one to pick up however.

Requires a while to get used to your software and know what your looking for.

I'm still learning how to get textures looking really good,

Topaz on the other hand. seems to have mastered that :)

Could you elaborate some more?

Unfortunately not a whole lot, No :(

What i can say is that the tanks this time over are all much more realistic and each has there own characteristics.

There is definitely a difference in each tank,

If you want to be a veteran tanker this time around.

You'll have to learn the traits and nuances of your vehicle :)

I take this as a sign that all of these cities will be in the map, what a substantial endeavor you guys are messing with here. Today is a good day, because it will mean that another day has passed in the wait for the release.:D My true love of history lies in World War 2.

Another day closer to release indeed.

And everyday spent means a more populated world and a more polish product.

The map is a huge endevour but rip is putting his full efforts into it and it's really coming on nicely :)
