Question about Tinnitus Sound in Arma2

Recommended Posts

Hi ,

i have a Question and hope someone can help me.

Is it possible to deactivate the Tinnitus Sound in Arma2?

I mean the Sound when a explosion is near the Player

(Tinnitus is the perception of sound within the human ear in

the absence of corresponding external sound.).

The Problem is ,

i have a real Tinnitus and the Sound in the Game is really

violating me , i hope there is a way.

I searched in the Pbo´s but find nothing.

Thx & Greetings

Rygar

I've had tinnitus for years, but sounds in games don't make it any worse, perhaps your speakers are too loud?

That's an interesting choice of words to be sure. I've had real Tinnitus for the last 8 years pretty much and I don't find a problem. Try turning the sound down a bit or better still turn the treble down on your amplifier, I bet it's turned up impossibly high.

I have it since 17 Years !!

And make the Sound down can not be the Solution ,

cause i want to hear other Things (Footsteps , Engines , and so on).

Why we can get a Option to disable this ?

I think you can probably create a sound mod cfg that points that sound entry to nothing or to a blank sound file you create.

When this is possible , it would be great.

But i have no Idea to realize this with a Mod ,

maybe somebody can help ?

There are a couple of people you can ask. Goeth, Mark XIII, Chammy, and others have all done quite excellent sound mods. They might be able to help. Dwarden is the community manager for BIS. BIS has stated in the past that the use of their files for purposes that do not interfere with their corporation's goals do not really concern them. Ask Dwarden if you or someone you commission can take a peak at their configs for the purposes of building a soundmod for people with tinnitus if the need arises.

I've had tinnitus for as long as I can remember and the sounds don't really bother me. How severe is your case?

I had a search for "whistle" and found the CfgWhistleSound.

Try the pbo here:

http://www.2shared.com/file/d8P0KQ8O/no_whistle.html

After throwing a grenade 5m next to me and taking damage, I had no whistle sound.

class CfgPatches {
class no_whistle {
	units[] = {};
	weapons[] = {};
	requiredVersion = 1.000000;
	requiredAddons[] = {};
	version = 1.00;
};
};

class CfgWhistleSound
{
	sound[] = {};
	downTime = 0.2;
	silentTime = 3;
	upTime = 4;
};

Sorry to drag up an old thread but, is it possible to reverse this to create tinnitus for OA ?

class CfgPatches {

class whistle {

units[] = {};

weapons[] = {};

requiredVersion = 1.0;

requiredAddons[] = {"CACharacters_E"};

};

};

class CfgWhistleSound

{

sound[] = {"\my_tinnitus_sound\Tinnitus",1,1};

downTime = 0.2;

silentTime = 0.2;

upTime = 15;

};
