Sickboy said "typo fixed" and at DL-Site it's now 1.14 ... so what version is it then ;) ? not a 1-million-$-question, I think

Latest ACE for beta patched OA standalone.

The Little Bird Gau-19 is seriously, hilariously broken. I won't write it all out, but really, just go place one flying in the editor. Don't try to take off or fly because you can't. Just use use an automatic weapon on the ground and you should be able to send it tumbling and whirling like a volleyball.

And after what must be a hundred ACE builds, why do earplugs still fail to show up on either the list of key bindings, the self interact menu, or the action menu? Are they working for anyone else?

How are the Mortars currently 'supposed' to be used by players vis a vis aiming once loaded and set up? It's bloody confusing

Self interaction After putting your profile name in the user config, been around for as long as the dev builds have been released

Just out of curiosity, but since the new wounding system update, it seems like 75% of the time after being revived I was unable to walk, even after being treated by a medic, with a medkit, epi, morphine, and bandages. Is this supposed to happen, or were we missing a step somewhere?

////////--E D I T below THIS LINE--//////////*/

class Identity {

name = "Michael";

};

Like that? Doesn't work.

Edit: Oooh, they mean the name given to your face selection.

That's bloody stupid. "Player profile name" means the name of you profile if you're English-speaking and a normal person. And no documentation I've seen has explained it in any more specific language than that.

I reallly hate this six updater.. it's so confusing in terms of having the same version as the server and the unit I'm in is having lots of problems with it. Looking at it from a coder's perspective, it's very messy and junky and seems to install lots of 'plugins' or standalone programs and then runs them simultaneously in a cmd prompt box, ending with it actually hosting a whole webserver (on port 16333).. Thenn it launches one of the many programs it installed (a web browser called SRWARE) that views http://localhost:16333 (or you can open it in your own browser).. It then installs on your webserver, a GUI made in PHP or html or some web language. What I'm saying is it shouldn't have to DL and use a list of different programs/plugins, install and run them all, make sure that they're all running, and then run a WEBSERVER off your computer just to run a GUI (maybe because ACE2 can only make GUIs in HTML or web code?) from off that webserver.. It's very complex but it doesn't need to be.. I think you ACE2 coders should turn to your community for help if you want a secure and simple updater. Personally I can make you a C++ updater that verifies the files and updates them and it would be a simple 'one run' thing, however it would have to use direct file download as I have no idea how RSYNC compression and downloading works. We would use Yoma's AddonSync if we had a proper site to dl the latest ACE2 from.

Or at least put the latest files in a place where you can download them manually, Six updater is a real pain and even the way it works is very sloppy..

Same opinion like Jurugi. Many people feel comfortable with the six updater, but I would really appreciate to have the option to manually download the updated files.

Apart from that ACE is awesome - keep up the good work!

@maturin

Player profile name does mean player profile name (eg "Animal Mother" or "maturin")

http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Userconfig#Player%20Identity

Regarding SIX Updater, good place for feedback: http://dev-heaven.net/projects/six-arma-updater/issues

Manually downloading the updated files? Really don't see that happening. It would just be messy and painful for all involved. Hence, stable builds each month.

Hi, does anybody know if there is any possibility of using the old AH-1W sight, like the one in Arma and Arma II in Combined Operations with the ACE mod?

@guidzombie; http://dev-heaven.net/issues/15426

@Jurugi & co:

As Animal pointed out if you have constructive feedback, find the issue tracker.

If you don't like Six Updater, use Yoma AddonSync; there are at least 2 mirrors that keep up2date.

Otherwise run your own AddonSync mirror, and grab the updates from Six Updater only on 1 location, like the server. (Or put them on your FTP if that really is your game).

Or wait for each Stable release, it's as simple as that; Plenty of options to go around, and they are up to you. Not us.

Download from Six Updater or YomaAddonSync: http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Ongoing_Development

If you wonder how things came to be, check below links;

ACE details; http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Overview

SIX updater details; http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater_Suite+Overview

As to the analysis of SIX Updater; You seem to have no clue of what it is and how it works, internally or outside.

Six Updater isn't designed to 'update to the same version as your server or clan', but to update to the latest development version of the mods that are hosted there.

And it's pretty good at doing that job, there are 100's if not 1000's of users who successfully use the software, every week again.

ACE is updated every week, and in case of serious issues, there are hotfixes dispatched asap; there should be very little reason to stick to older versions, and if you really want to, stick to the stables then, or cook up your own solution.

Originally I had intended to be able to switch between versions and sync up to the same version as your server, but that had to be shelved;

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1784953#post1784953

Six Updater compared to any other distribution method, due to the use of Rsync, saves a lot of management, but more importantly bandwidth for me as uploader, for the mirrors as hosters of the files, and for the users who download the updates (always only delta patches).

Where-as all other distribution methods make you upload and download the full updated files, usually leading to complaints of people because they have to download so much. Well not if you use six updater.

(we have a lot of content, and additions/improvements/fixes are being made across the board every week)

If you have any idea how much time, work, space, bandwidth and money that costs to distribute on this scale..

My choice to use a webframework (http://rubyonrails.org/) is simply because I had the most experience with it, like to work with it, and had bad experiences with different GUI toolkits.

Furthermore the app works on many OS, incl Linux, and you don't even have to use the web-interface, if console is your game; http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater_Suite+Commandline

The fact that I used a web-framework also means it is remotely manageable out of the box, great for servers or other applications.

The Iron Portable browser is optional, and was a feature request to make the software act more like a standalone/native application, while not using the user's primary browser. Delete it from the installation folder if you want it to use your primary browser.

Furthermore there aren't many applications running; there is a web-site, and a console program. The web-site syncs the latest mods information from the server, and allows you to manage settings and perform actions. The console program actually executes them (six-updater.yml contains the configuration).

Sure, the app uses a lot of files (I've included the whole Ruby interpreter) and libraries (gems); why would I re-invent the wheel?

The codebase is also shared with something larger (backend; server(http://updater.dev-heaven.net/main) and mirror side), and when I either get to .NET, or rather IronRuby (Ruby .NET), one day, you can expect a better interface.

Just did a re-inventory on IronRuby, and found that six-rsync and six-updater run flawless (after minor adjustments) on it.

I'm checking also the six-updater-web, it probably needs more work, however it would be the main component I would like to replace anyway now with access to .NET.

The other cool thing with IronRuby will be that I can distribute single exe apps, and have the interpreter included as dll incl libs.

A supplement on that, below ....

For now if you have feedback or issues, please find the issue tracker; http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater_Suite+Bug_reporting

There already is, just dl the milestones. If you want to be able to use the dev builds and participate in the testing between milestones then people will have to be comfortable with the six updater. Yes updater is a little confusing at first, I struggled immensely with it at first, but once you get the steps down it's a piece of cake.

I suggest to those having trouble with it to use the search function in the older ACE2 threads and search for my name and updater. I've given simple steps to setting it up many times in those threads. It only takes a few seconds. Others have as well but it's in the older ACE2 threads.

To come back to earlier mentioned Updater GUI;

First, very early prototype for a Six Updater GUI in IronRuby .NET:

33o7b0z_thumb.png

Currently, just an official sample app, revamped and bolted on the existing six-updater database ;-)

Some details available at; http://dev-heaven.net/projects/six-updater-gui/wiki

Progress will also appear there, no timeline or planning setup yet, perhaps soon.

And one more;

Player profile name does mean player profile name (eg "Animal Mother" or "maturin")

http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Userconfig#Player%20Identity

But it doesn't for me!

My profile name defaulted to Michael, than name of my user on my PC. That didn't work with build 1.3 or 1.6.

But I tried typing in 'Faisal K,' the name given to the face I selected for MP purposes, and it worked.

Hey thanks for the release AnimalMother92, I play on servers that don't allow ACE as well as ones that do, I love the new tracer models very much, Is there a way If i open the relevant PBO to use the tracers independently of the whole ace mod?

In my Six Updater GUI, all the extra mods like ACEX_USNavy, ACEX_RU, ACEX_SM are marked "to be skipped" by default. I tried to unselect the skip box but when I return to the main menu, it still shows "to be skipped". How do I enable the mods in the configuration file?
