CAWheeled2_BTR90 problem....

This seems to be a common problem and I've spent that last several hours trying to fix it and I just can't find a solution.

Whenever I try to join a server, preferably one running CTI only I get this message

"dependent on downloadable content. CAwheeled2_BTR90"...etc

I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help me find a solution. I'm still fairly new to the game. I bought combined operations through Steam so the steamapps directory should contain both games. I am getting very very frustrated with this.

What is your shortcut parameter looking like?

Maybe you are simply starting OA with a shortcut ignoring ArmA II files!

I am using a shortcut so I could run as admin because the original shortcut steam provided could not and I hadn't had this problem until suddenly yesterday...why idk. Could be the problem though, let me check.

edit~ just tried the original shortcut and didn't work. Getting extremely frustrated and the part thats even more frustrating is this is a random problem.

Anyone help? I've spent all day trying to fix this and I can't find any information at all, I've gone through advanced search option and just about any topic that contains CAwheeled2_BTR90. I bought this game early august why is this problem occurring now.

If its a random problem, and I have the same sometimes with other filenames , its because the severs you're connecting to is using modified files you don't have. It can also happen with clanlogos, faces, googles or other usermade addons on the server. As long as you can connects and the mission loads just forget about it...I have this for more than year now. This is a side effect of a easy modable multiplayer game.

haha by random problem I meant it just started to happen without me changing or modifying any of the files. I just started the game up one day and went to play my favorite mod CTI and I couldn't join any servers...I was pissed. I'm assuming it has to do with the latest patch since steam shows it was updated on the 26th of august and I hadn't played since a few days before it.

CAwheeled2_BTR90 is BTR-90 from Arma 2 / Chernarus. The server you were playing (Op arrowhead) now most likely uses content from Arma 2.

I bought combined operations through Steam so the steamapps directory should contain both games.

Well I've now re-downloaded Arma II and still the problem persists and it feels like there is no easy fix to this problem. I don't want to urge or stress any of the moderators out and as far as I know this could be a simple problem and I'm just being retarted but from my research on these forums and google I can't find any solution and its even more frustrating that this is the only way to reach a Dev or Mod to help me out in which I haven't even recieved a response.

In short I shouldn't have to come back to enjoy this game only to find that its suddenly "broken" for no logical reason other than a possible automatic patch update which still has nothing to do with me modifying or altering any of the game files and then spend hours re-downloading and reinstalling the game to find that nothing is working. Now I've done what I could in terms of research. I'm aware that this is a possible steam problem so I scattered through all 777 replies on the "All Steam Q's/discussions go here [covered by Dwarden]" to find a solution about my error and if its a possible mod problem I would check that branch of the forums also but honestly I'm just frustrated at this point and have no incentive to put any more research into this problem, all I ask for is for someone to help me troubleshoot this problem and this is supposedly the right place to look, correct? Well I've had no help what so ever. I just simply want a Moderator or a veteran of the forums to point me in the right direction....is that too much to ask? :confused:

from what i have seen from others if your still having this problem. it could be that steam isn't using arma2 and just using arma2 OA. you have to use the combined ops exe. which you can get to in steam through the game library and right clicking OA. some servers have both and steam only does the OA exe unless you tell it different. for me that is. /my problem is do i want to go in and find every mod i put in arma2 and delete it so i can play some of these server...because when i do the combined ops exe it loads all the mods with it. pain in the ass really

I'm having the same problem but I don't use Steam to play the games. I have two separate installations from disc. I've tried adding "-mod=G:\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\AddOns" to the parameter line in addition to downloading _runA2CO_nonSteamOA.zip and placing it in the OA folder. I still receive the same message as the original poster.

We see a lot of players getting kicked from our combined ops server through this BTR90 problem, and I mean a lot. A few of our clan members were suffering from it and it certainly needs looking into.

Addendum - I've found the correct target line: "G:\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead\arma2OA.exe" -nosplash -world=empty "-mod=G:\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2;G:\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead\Expansion;ca"

One question. I've included the "CA" folder in the target line even though I cannot find a folder by the name of "CA". What is it and why does it need to be included?

Did you ever run any cleaning programs? or did you run any programs to clean your registry?

Actually I have used Driver Cleaner to get rid of old Nvidia drivers but they weren't the cause of the problem. The mistake I made was write "/addons" after each 'mod' folder name/directory path hah. It works fine now and I've played on a few servers already. Crashes permitting.

As Liquid says we've had a lot of people get kicked for this problem. It's not just the btr-90 etc stuff either. People can be playing on a Takistan map with CO content and then if we switch to chernarus they suddenly seem to not have the Arma2 content. It's all rather weird.

I suspect something in the patch process is corrupting random parts of the .pbo files, one of our guys can't see Russian tanks any more either.

Did your friend try re-installing the game? If so ask him if does he have both ARMA 2 and OA and also ask him how does he install them, Like what does he install first?

Yeah we haven't gone down the reinstall route yet but I suspect that's the only way to fix this. I'm taking a couple of days off from my duties as clan tech support due to rl concerns so after that's over I'll let you know what happens :)

My brother duplicated the folders of the instalation of Arma II operation arrowhead!!!!

I had D:\ArmaII for Normal ArmaII game.

Then my brother installed the Operation Arrowhead in D:\ArmaII\Bohemia Interactive\Operation Arrowhead ....

So the game dind't worked. Take a look at the folders of your game both must be excatly the same.

If your folders don't fit you can copy paste the folders and replace the files, it works.

OK finally i found out hoe to sort problem and how simple once you know how...

I hope it works for you.

Ignore steam and startmenu or desktop Arma/OA starty clicky icon thingies.

goto to the following;

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2

yours may be slightly different depending on windows version etc but once you find this folder inside is a file called... drum roll please...

called 'arma2OA.exe'

try double clicking you will find all works fine.

So create a shortcut to this file.

I so hope this works for you all.
