AH-64 Pack

Recommended Posts

oh and Nod, note that several parts of the apache are reflecting the light pretty good

which are the connections between the different parts of the hull

would really be a top notch if you could later on give these parts a higher reflection map so that the player can can see how the hull is constructed

happy tweaking ;) and a lot of success to you and of course Franze aswell!

just a question, are you going to make the M230's controls more sensitive I think the main gun moves a bit slow?

It should be quick enough to follow head motion speed, which is what we have now. Somewhere we have the actual figures for the rate of change in azimuth and elevation.

Having something with more concentrated specular such as that wouldn't be out of the questions but this is where template release will play a huge role since what works for me might not work for others.

For example I may prefer http://www.airliners.net/photo/Greece---Army/McDonnell-Douglas-AH-64A/1551579/L/&sid=c3313ec68be58208d524611901a320d2 you may prefer http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Army/McDonnell-Douglas-AH-64A/1686612/L/&sid=c3313ec68be58208d524611901a320d2

also thanks for that video, another one to add to the research collection :D

Much of the strange colouration variation you see there is on account of retouchups with different paint and spilled fuel and other fluid stains.

Those Apaches on the last pics sure are weathered..

I like that you choose to make them as low-specular as possible.

I really don't like all these shiny vehicles in Arma.

Also maybe it has been asked before (maybe even by me..), but will any other countries be covered with your addon.

I understand you're focussing on US Army off course.

In future yes, I plan on covering as many as I can with any visual discrepancies between them. After US will be UK, then Netherlands, then Israel or Japan. Some time in between I'll probably toss out some templates for factions that would require no 3D mods such as Greece, UAE etc.

I'm also looking forward to painting this http://warisboring.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/1-151-avn-ah-64a-scng-seen-at-mosul-in-march.JPG and doing some 'for the hell of it' camo's such as the Resistance AH-64A that was part of Franze original OFP release, and a few others like-

http://www.scale-rotors.com/files/gallery/1/AH-64A-Apache-Revell-32.JPG

and probably others for the hell of it.

Alright good to hear that. The more variety the better I reckon. :)

wow Nod stunning new pictures!

Is this relevant for the damage model?

I don't know, but it sure is relevant to my interests.

Seems someone has been eyeing the photobucket.

It is to a point, the skeleton was modelled from tpub's information and is being used as a research point for what we may want to do with our stuff as well as give us an idea of how it may look.

(Since you mentioned it I suppose I'll post the pics)

It's still a long way but the Su-17 test proved successful so we want to expand on that, I can't tell you what exactly we have planned but suffice to say it won't be strictly visual and it won't be the only damage type.

There haven't been any updates in a while because we've both been busy, Franze is also working on making heatmaps for the Su-17 and I'm trying to optimize the model more and create the exterior cockpits to have almost the same detail but not take too much in polycount, going nicely though I've dropped at least 2K even after adding all the new stuff, best of all is there is no obvious change.

I'm sorry if you didn't want to show them to the community already ( thats why i said only "the pictures" and didnt post any links etc. )

But yes of course! For a modell awesome like this and the work connected to it it is obvious that i always want to be up to date! so an RSS feed was out of question! ;)

so now i can only say that i am very looking forward to what is possible and the ideas you can implement to the game.

But take your time, Rome wasn't built in a day and with your addon, the waiting will definitely be worth it.

Not so much of a didn't want to show as much as didn't think of them as being worthy of mention unless mentioned.

depends on what you view is high quality, and I've been thinking of that since day one ;)

So heloooo everybody, I'm in a great mood today because at long last the exterior is 99% done, it would have been done much earlier before but a mixture of polycound reduction and OCD brought some nasty delays.

But to me the best part is that the model now has more detail and being nearly finished and STILL have a lower polycount than before, everything was tweaked to be more lifelike but also more kind.

This update will be entirerly about the AH-64A, for those of you that haven't heard my apache will be featured in CWR so consider this a sort of early sneak peek since I deleted the older pictures.

I'll probably be jumping right into exterior UV mapping and work on the damage model and maintenance props further down the road which will show engines and other components. Also I accidently deleted the sensors on the back of the fuelsaloge at the time of rendering :banghead: I'm also aware of some lighting uglyness, it has been bothering me all this time but when tested ingame it didn't seem to stick out that much.

I'd also like to extend my thanks to the people who have helped me get this far from community members helping with information or motivation, outside sources to maintinance officers, pilots and even people who build the bird in real life, everything helped greatly and even if I already knew of the source shared, the fact that someone took time out to help makes me smile, for now it may be too early to see the fruits of your assistance so I'll save the list until texturing is done, just know that you have my gratitude and will be included in a "Thanks to" section in the readme.

Anyway on with the pictures! (Big pictures)

And as always, more here http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/ee200/NodUnit/Model%20work/AH-64D/Work%20In%20Progress/Apache%20Renders/

Also would it be possible to change the thread name to Franze & Nodunit apache's or something like that?

EDIT: Also meant to include this, it appears there now actually exists a glossy apache. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Netherlands---Air/Boeing-AH-64D-Apache/1927747/L/&sid=02025fd0be11957d2bfd0d6caa231f6f

High Quality=Working unit/veh mod which also has great models and textures.

High Quality=Working full mod which improves/changes parts of the game. (ACE, I44...)
