ACE 1.5 (Advanced Combat Environment) for OA/CO

Recommended Posts

I think settings.ace is not a compressed file, only total commander and some of the packagers think this, because of the .ace extension.

Yes, it is not a compressed file. It's a normal text file. But because of the extension ace

it looks like a compressed file for some applications (ace is an "old" compression format, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACE_(file_format))

Does the Clippi program need to be run everytime we play ACE 2 or just one time after updating ACE 2?

Is it possible to fill the jerrycans by scripting?

Could not find any info on your page.

Does the Clippi program need to be run everytime we play ACE 2 or just one time after updating ACE 2?

If you want to be able to save the ACE options permanently ingame, then yes.

Otherwise you have to copy the clipboard content manually to the settings.ace file

(when you have made changes in the ACE Options dialog and click the "Save" button)

The problem simply is, that OA can't save files (there is no scripting command for saving data to files).

Therefore we needed to find an easy way to save data.

Using the user actions/custom keys from OA wasn't an option as you can only define and save 20 keys

and it may collide with other addons.

jayarmalib, while it would have been the better solution, has the problem that you have to wait for an

update as soon as BIS releases a new beta or full patch.

But we have also opened a ticket at the ArmA2 Community Issue Tracker.

http://dev-heaven.net/issues/14281

Maybe one day OA will have this possibility :)

I think what he means does it NEED to be open every time.

Now correct me i I am wrong I think the CLIPPI tool ONLY needs to remain open IF you know or will be intending to change ACE settings in the ESC menu.

So open CLIPPI tool start ARMA get to ESC menu make changes save then play game.

Next time you play ARMA if you are happy with the settings you made last time I think you dont need to have the CLIPPI tool open unless of course you want to make a change to any of the ACE settings again.

Exactly. If you are happy with the settings you do not need to run it.

The settings.ace file itself gets loaded from an internal ACE system.

Xeno,

If I can't get this Clippi thing to work, is there a way to save all the key changes and other settings manually with out the Clippi? I know the clientside_config''s remaining items can be changed but how to I manually change the rest and then save it so I don't have to re-set them each time I open the game?

I'm still getting the Unhandled Exception error when I use the new Clippi. I plan on creating a ticket for it at DH sometime this morning. I just woke up. ;)

Make sure you have the latest version, available @ http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/ACE_Clippi

Also check the Steps to use clippi/update the userconfig blog by Xeno; http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/ACE_Settings_Userconfig_and_Clippi

Otherwise, you can use Option 2 from http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Configuration+howto#Saving%20Settings

The settings are stored in your clipboard when you click save ingame.

So once you clicked save, open the settings.ace file, select all / make it empty, and then press CTRL+V to paste. Save the file, and voila.

Hello again,

I need help with flashbangs. I can add them to my player with 'this addMagazine "ACE_M84 or ACE_Flashbang";' but when I switch to throwable weapons it doesn't come up. No matter what I try I can't figure out how to let my character throw the bloody thing

Any help would be wonderful!

Thanks bud. I just posted new comment(s) in the bug report regarding the Unhandled exception error that's already open.

I'm using the new most recent Clippi posted there.

Thanks for the Option 2 explanation. I'll see if I can get that way working.

Not sure how I missed that link, my apologies.

Take care.

Thanks for asking! Yes I've tried that as well. I posted in the ticket about this issue, check it out. Weird stuff going on on my end.

Sickboy,

I'll post a new ticket. I just realized it's not exactly like the problem I'm having. Sorry about that. :)

EDIT:

And here's the new ticket:

Something like this? http://browser.dev-heaven.net/cfg_weapons/generator

Otherwise the ordinary classlists could help; http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Classlists

Lastly, you could check the coding notes of; http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Weapons_System

on how to use the ACE Magic Box, and remove the class/faction limitation that is enabled by default; http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Weapons_System

Hi all

Working with the standard BIS arty module and it looks like there is a change in ACE again where the rounds are coming up short with the standard module. Has this been mentioned at all. Is there any detail docs on the interaction with ACE and the ARty system. Something seems to change between ACE version that affects the BIS arty module.

i dont know why that happen. i reran the updater twice and reran the game afterward but it wouldnt work, but on the third time of running the updater i tried running the game again and whalla, it worked. so im wondering if it just wasn't grabbing those files or something. but i also ran the check userconfig files or something like that as well (i know thats where the .hpp files are), but it said everything was ok so im not sure exactly what did it the third time, but it now works. thanks for your help anyways FelixK44, i appreciate it tons.

It can take quite a while until the items in the box are accessible, especially when using above variables, please be patient.

Hey guys. I have a ton of problems but only a couple of questions. I'm using the Steam version of CO, my mod switches are in the batch file, and I know how to get mods working by now. However many of the mods I've tested, including ACE 1.5, haven't worked correctly. The first problem I had was getting stuck to the C-130J in the refueling tutorial. Then I noticed had no explosions! In Vanilla when I fire SABOT rounds at a HMMV, the car jumps back after a fiery explosion. In ACE mod, it stays still and suddenly turns into a skeleton. It may be offtopic to say this, but I've had problems with a lot of mods. Do you think it's due to Steam not updating to the beta version? My version is 1.54.72967. If it isn't the fault of Steam, have I installed ACE incorrectly?

"-mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_USNavy;@ACEX_RU;@Vopsound2.3;@TRTV;@RH_Heli_sound_mod_10"

Also isn't the camera supposed to shake when standing next to an explosion or firing a cannon, etc? The best part (sarcasm) is getting lower frame rates than WarFX without any explosions!

...PLEASE HELP!
