ladlon 10 Posted September 19, 2010 Okay, so I just did the frequently unwise task of updating (my GForce800GT drivers, my Arma2 and Operation Arrowhead) to their latest versions. Seemed to be working fine (as before)... but after a few minutes of playing, my screen froze, and eventually went all reversed (cyan), 'flashing' ever 3 seconds or so, and completely hanging my machine. So, what's this all about then? What is probably causing that (based on the discription), and what do I need to do to fix it? Hope you can help. WinXP Pro Dual core 2 gigs blah, blah... ladlon 10 Posted September 19, 2010 Not really.... blah. It's working again. Just wondered if that particular type of glitch (freeze, screen colour going inversed) is standard for some common issue (ex. video driver fail, overheating, corrupt update). First time that's ever happened. Not sure if it was the result of the updates I just did to the sim and video card, or if it was just a random glitch. Just seeing if anyone else recognizes it as something common.
Gunter Severloh 2545 Posted September 19, 2010 This is a thread that your topic should be in: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=76670 Can I suggest getting a cpu, and GPU temp monitor, to make sure your not overheating, as well as open your case to make sure you dont have bunny rabbits in there makin kids, thats dust for the noobs;)
ladlon 10 Posted September 20, 2010 Heheh.... Ya, it seems okay. I think it was just one of those infamous random Windows glitches. I just played a long session of OA (Cipher) without any problems (...well, other than my squad doing some moronic things every once in a while, like trying to shoot at an enemy copter with their pistols when I'm telling them to hide!). I'll open up the case and see how the dust bunny level is. Should be fairly clean, as I vacuumed it fairly recently... but then again, I have a pet bird here who is quite dusty (shedding it's old feathers and growing new ones... long story, but just know that she's pretty dusty as a result!). Sorry that this is in the wrong spot. I didn't notice the sticky there. My bad... Okay, well, I think the sim itself is fine, so I'll just leave it at that. If there's more trouble, I'll post in the sticky. Thanks...
