Baz 0 Posted September 13, 2010 Does anyone else have problems with engaging targets with the holo Eotech sights in the game? seems to me that I can't hit targets accurately after 100m. or in CQB. So if i am engaging things at standard effective rifle ranges ~ 300m i seem to just hit dirt. I think part of the problem is just not being able to see where your rounds hit. Also I noticed IRL, that some magnification scope is placed in front of the eotech sight to increase its effectiveness at longer ranges?
ryguy 10 Posted September 13, 2010 You could try making up for this by using the Mk4 scope, which is available on the Mk16 and Mk17 in game. It's basically a combo of a CCO and ACOG. Although I personally prefer the openness and peripheral vision the EOtech provides. :) EDIT: Also, the sight of the EOtech is 2mils. The center and down is 1mil. Baz 0 Posted September 13, 2010 except by default that may not be a option as weapon choice is based on mission maker... So, really you should try to become proficient at all of them. What do you mean by the Eotech and mils? im not a "military" type

Baz 0 Posted September 13, 2010 still does not help me in terms of its effect in the game in regards to the eotech sights... "EDIT: Also, the sight of the EOtech is 2mils. The center and down is 1mil."
jagheterjan 10 Posted September 13, 2010 Try moving up closer to effectively engage or learn to properly compensate for bullet drop as per ryguy's advice.
Psycho78 10 Posted September 13, 2010 I hate starting a mission with those Eotech sights. To me the reticle is so big it obscures the target, especially when ARMA2 engagement distances are often 200+ meters and all you're looking at is a few dozen pixels. xxbbcc 6 Posted September 14, 2010 Same here. I think the Eotech sights are nearly useless - the sight is so opaque and big that it mostly obscures everything.
ryguy 10 Posted September 14, 2010 A "mil" stands for "Mildot", technically known as a "Milliradian" (one thousandth of a radian). Since scopes travel in a parabolic arc, these degrees are marked on a scope. That's why scopes are dotted. It's actually not just a measurement for bullet drop as some think but also a handy way to measure either distance to target or size of target with some basic algebra. Fox '09 14 Posted September 14, 2010 the eotech isnt that useless to me. If i know it is covering my enemy ill just blast away and it will eventually hit him. although, i'm a big fan of the regular a2 ironsights

jagheterjan 10 Posted September 14, 2010 (snip) Not sure if that was pointed towards me. If so - Thanks, I know perfectly well the many uses of Mildots in a rifle scope.
