Captain Kickass 0 Posted December 21, 2001 We have been arguing about this for ssssooooooo long now! Yes we want the cool:cool: SA-80 in OFP!
FCATrooper 0 Posted December 21, 2001 sa-80 was only just coming in in 1985,the FN FAL was more common.now theres a real rifle. SA-80 is a piece of crap. if you dont know anything about firearms, you will disagree with me. ps: robert the bruce lived waaaaaaaaaay before the 19th century. The Jub-Jub Bird 1 Posted December 21, 2001 I am going to disagree with you FCA Trooper. The SA80 (or L85) first entred service with the British Army in 1985. It was a superb weapon. Very accurate and capable of a high rate of fire. That is of course until you got it wet, dirty, cold or hot. So unless you were using it in a dry temperate climate (which doesn't exist by the way) it was prone to reliability issues. But this is common with any weapon when it first enters service, the US army had a #### of a time when the M16 first entered service during the Veitnam conflict. After the privatisation of the RSAF plant and the move to Nottingham the serious defects were slowly ironed out into the gun known as the L85A1. But still not perfect the gun was recently redesigned by HK and the L85A2 is now entering service with the Brits and is now a very reliable and decent piece of kit. Guest Posted December 21, 2001 has nobody learned that weapons and units dont have to be set in 1985
The Jub-Jub Bird 1 Posted December 21, 2001 ...we also can't make any new models...so making the L85 would be impossible in anycase.
Damage Inc 0 Posted December 21, 2001 Actually we can. See this.

The Jub-Jub Bird 1 Posted December 21, 2001 Well...the P3d file system appears to have been hacked by A-Lone-Wolf...but has anyone yet added new models into OFP other than A-Lone-Wolf...and untill he tells you how I see nothing new appearing for a while. Black Hawk Down 0 Posted December 21, 2001 Robert the Bruce lived in the 15th-16th Centuries, as 1st king of scotland following his victory in the 8th battle of Bannockburn. However, shortly after his death, the monarchy of Scotland dissolved, as before, into squabbling tribes. When the Brits came again in 1678, nobody had the will, or indeed the way, to stop them. And bloody good they didn't!!!!!
Ruskiesrule 0 Posted December 21, 2001 It infact trades power for minuverability (I never did get more than 2/10 on the SATs selling tests!), the idea is that the British soldier will be able to pump a few rounds into sombody before they even bring their weapon to bear! I managed to shoot sombody in real life in bout 2 seconds (And the gun was on my sholder at the start! and yes, he did shoot me first!!!).

Black Hawk Down 0 Posted December 22, 2001 Ah, I was only joshin witya.... On the subject of the Enfield, how many of us have used it in real life (BHD raises hand). Good, now, the SA-80 is CRAP. I'm sorry that the Brits have to use such a piece of crap as stardard issue, but in all fairness, if there had been a scrap/battle between NATO v USSR and the UK was involved, they'd mostly be using m16s, m14s, and the trusty Gimpy MG. (God I love that MG:)) P.S. Don't take my inciteful posts so seriously.
FCATrooper 0 Posted December 22, 2001 well, the game is set in '85 so all the stuff in it should be from 1985. plus, that is the point jub jub...it was crap because it was unreliable. and shut up,russkie. you never shot anybody. you cant even spell.
FCATrooper 0 Posted December 22, 2001 when'd u use the enfield,BHD? bet it aint as good as the steyr AUG. which is inaccurate but still pretty good. the king of them all is the FN FAL. only disadvantage its it's bloody length and weight.
Black Hawk Down 0 Posted December 22, 2001 Used it when training with British units. The Paras use it mostly, cos of its trade of accuracy for maneuvrability, nobody in their right mind would go into battle with one unless, like British Airborne, there is no other option. SAS don't tho, (although that's obvious). The RMC do when they have to, although i was still surprised when i watched the News from Afghanistan which had pictures of a few of them with the SA-80. Poor bastards I find the Steyr Aug more accurate then most, FCATrooper, my problem with it is that it's not comfortable (personal preference:) and that the rate of fire is too slow for my likin. In Timor, the Company Sergeant said that if we got into a contact, we'd just lob a few grenades and scarper without even FIRING the Steyr!!! Dunno about the Famas. Jury's Out on that one. Ruskiesrule 0 Posted December 22, 2001 I'm in the royal marines, and what i was talking about was in 1993, some nut case drove up in a car and shot the two guards, i went out to take a look and as i was pulling my weapon off my shoulder he shot my in the knee cap, ishot him as i fell (It is very easy to spin this gun around!!!!), i'm now out of the army getting payed by the governet to sit on my ass wile me knee heels, its still healing now, this is one of the resons i bourght flashpoint and want the SA-80 Enfield! PS - i did have the long name written down but couldn't find it!!!! And that gun is oneof the best guns for stabing sombody with! (Edited by Ruskiesrule at 2:33 pm on Dec. 22, 2001)
BlueJames 1 Posted December 22, 2001 i doubt a marine would carry himself as you do.
Black Hawk Down 0 Posted December 22, 2001 I agree with BlueJames. As a part of the ARW, the elite Irish SF, I'm in a position to know what i'm talkin' bout as well...
Ruskiesrule 0 Posted December 22, 2001 So your telling me you ouldn't try to shoot sombody who shot you, i did that so he wouldn't get a chance to shot sombody else! I got a VC for that!
Ruskiesrule 0 Posted December 22, 2001 and if your talking about stabing sombody i only saidthat because the guns shape gives you alot of power to push that knife in! I was only trying to stick up for the gun! (Edited by Ruskiesrule at 6:24 pm on Dec. 22, 2001)
The Jub-Jub Bird 1 Posted December 22, 2001 Ruskiesrule...no offense, but your gramma and spelling is appauling... But that's neither here nor there. Talking about stabbing someone with the L85, and how you think it's the best weapon to do so with, maybe that has something to do with the intensive, aggressive bayonet training the Brits go through...just a thought. Captain Kickass 0 Posted December 22, 2001 I know the marines are the best in my opinion.
