Sky999 10 Posted September 3, 2010 So far I've really enjoyed the Campaign and the scenario missions for BAF...except this one. Am I the only one who thinks this mission is ridiculous? Sending a squad of five men and one Warrior crew against the amount of enemies in the mission just seems insane. I can't imagine the British military would send that small amount of men against a a large number of Tanks, multiple Jeeps equipped with heavy MGs, a large number of Republican regulars and a Hind! It's suicide. I've tried doing this about eleven times now and each time I've barely gotten moving before all my engine, tracks etc... have turned red and it's mission failed. I can't even see what's hitting me. I don't mind dying if the scenario makes sense, but this doesn't to me. Why would the High command send one warrior against all these guys? Did the British army run out of Jets, Tanks, Helicopters and men?
m16a2m203 0 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) I agree, that one is a pain in the rear. It took me about twenty tries before successfuly completing. After the first round realizing how greatly outnumbered I changed up my strategy several times till I found one that worked. Basically I went into one of the "fenced" areas and had half the troops dismounted. Pop what you can over the fence or take the high ground with the sniper riflestowed in the warrior, repair an opfor apc and use it against them, mix it up. Don't forget the engineer can repair the warrior as well. Once i dismantled most of their defenses this way, I finally came out and made a run for the trucks. Edit - I think there is a stinger in the back of the warrior if you don't feel like hitting it with the main cannon. Laertes 10 Posted September 3, 2010 I gave up on this one, after the third or fourth time I got blown up by a missile I didn't see coming.
Sky999 10 Posted September 3, 2010 Don't forget the engineer can repair the warrior as well. Already tried that, unfortunately like in most battles the AI just refuses to do anything once the enemy has been sighted.
lugiahua 26 Posted September 4, 2010 I missed my count on kills after first 30 seconds...lol The problem I encountered was the UN vehicles got destroyed, before that I already disabled maybe 6 tanks, 3 BRDMs and a number of jeeps. Then a message pop up said the UN vehicles lost or something and mission failed. Single squad of British against whole Battalion sized enemy, and how come there is no ATGM on my warrior? Decerto 10 Posted September 4, 2010 I use stand off tactics and move very far away until I can see down the main road then picked off the APC and cars as they roamed around. Once you think you're down to men it's better to move around on foot as one single RPG guy can ruin your day.
andromedagalaxe 10 Posted September 5, 2010 I love this mission! One of my favorites of all time. If you don't have unlimited saves I could see how it could be a problem, but it can be done, you just have to plan your attack 1. use the gunner position because your AI won't be able to hit crap ...command the AI to drive and switch to driver when you need to bug out of a position. 2. REMEMBER that you have thermal ... press N twice to see enemy vehicle positions that might otherwise be camoed. switch between this mode and normal mode 3. Don't attack from your starting position. Drive north behind cover of hills after you take out the chopper. attacking form the north will give you a narrow scope of fire rather than possibly being flanked. 4. zoom in and out a lot from your gunner seat. 5. attack at range and try to get your gun just above the level of hill when confronted by armor. 6. change your position often as this will confuse the enemy. My Warrior was pretty beat up by the end but still running. I just really loved this mission.
arigram 0 Posted September 5, 2010 I just finished the mission and I was going to write the same things Andromedagalaxe reported. One thing I wanted to add is that - The UN Vehicles are destroyed by a static grenade launcher placed behind their back wall, next to a big bush. When you assault the compound and take out the immediate threats of the APC and foot soldiers, go right behind the trucks, through the wall most probably. Take him out and you will have all the breathing space you need to continue the elimination of the OPFOR units. Well made mission, even if at first it looks impossible. You just have to think Arma-like! Playing most of it in dull green hues, made it feel like some sort of late 80s 16-bit military simulator...
lugiahua 26 Posted September 6, 2010 finally did it. I guess mine was harder because SLX, enemy soldiers drove those UN truck around the map, I have to went on foot to shoot them out of driver seats! lol Because single 30mm on truck would ruin whole mission. Beware of foot soldiers with ATGM, I count about 10 of them around the map.
Decerto 10 Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) Doh somone already said about the engineer repair. I got it to work, I made him dismount then repair then mount again. Just make sure your out of combat and make all your guy go to 'safe' mode. Edited September 6, 2010 by Decerto
Seagull 10 Posted September 29, 2010 Hello everybody, My mission doesn't end despite of having killed every AI (I guess ;)). Is it necessary to drive the UN Trucks out of the base ? Thanks for yours replies Seagull
