briefingName ASCII characters support

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Sorry if it's the wrong forum but I couldn't identify the problem clearly.

I don't know how to put this straight but I have a problem converting missions to pbo.

I want to add my community tag [PØ] to the briefingName.

The briefingName contains an ASCII character: Ø and depending on the way I edit the briefingName, it is shown in game or not.

If I edit the mission.sqm file with Notepad++ and add Ø to the briefingName, it is not shown in game.

If i go through the editor and change the briefingName it works.

I used Cpbo to convert files.

I don't know what's wrong and if I should make a CIT report or not.

Thank you for your answers.

Same thing with äö etc.

The way to get special chars to show up in briefing:

1. Create briefing.sqf

2. Open it with Notepad

3. Select File > Save As

saveassqf.jpg

4. Select Unicode instead of ANSI as Encoding

saveasunicode.jpg

5. Save

I'd imagine making Notepad++ use Unicode will have same effect.

Sorry I was not clear enough, I was talking about the mission.sqm file and not the briefing.sqf.

Anyway I did the same thing for the mission.sqm file and it worked.

However unicode encoding replaced the spaces with underscores in the mission selection screen. I chose the UTF-8 encoding instead and it was displayed properly.

Thank you for your help.
