Help! My game will not launch

I just purchased the Arma 2 and arrowhead bundle through bohemia's website. It made me go through steam to purchase it. It seemed to have downloaded and installed properly. However, when I try to play it never gets past the loading bar with the check marks. It does not even leave an error message.

I'm new to computer gaming so this is very frustrating. I have windows 7 64 bit, ATI Radeon 5770 graphics card, 8 gig of ram, 1TB hard drive. I was able to play the arma 2 demo without an issue, but having problems with this.

For some reason my game, disc version, always minimizes after it starts. I have to click on bottom of screen to start game. I'm not a steam user but could this be what is happening? Hopefully that's all it is.

My game doesn't give me any problems after I start it from minimized position.
