For those that cant figure out UAV's

Recommended Posts

Ok I seen a lot of posts about people not being able to use the UAV in the campaign and shoot anything so I thought I would write up a little guide on how I seem to find it works. Any suggestions are welcome feel free to add tips, all.

1. Find your target once you do use the tab key to lock it. Notice the UAV has to be pointed at the target within a thirty degree range left to right. Once the target is in front of you and the pilot sees it he will begin dive bomb runs so you can shoot. He will eventually fly low enough to get shot down so keep an eye out and try to hit your target first time around.

2. Once your pilot is on the dive path, he automatically switches you to missiles. Manually switch back to your laser. Use tab to lock the target as soon as it is in your 30 degree window.

3. With your laser selected click once to get the laser targeting box. Notice it does not lock on to anything, this part is up to you. Once your laser is up switch back to hellfires.

4. Again make sure your target is locked with the round box signafying hellfires are locked, it needs this lock to initially get off the rail. Once its off the rail that lock wont matter which is pointless to need a lock in the first place... IMO....

5. Fire it off, the missile will immediately go towards your target. Here is the trick you need to have your laser designator on and active and pointed at the target at all times. Once it leaves the rail if it cant follow the laser it has nothing.

6. Keep the laser on target, its ok to move a few feet off cause of the sh**ty flying by captain kinevil of the UAV corps. But as long as your within a few feet of target it should hit.

I played manhatten with this method and destroyed almost every tank and APC on the map before I even left base. Kinda took the fun out of it honestly. But ive got it down to a science and once you do it a few times youll figure it out.

**A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE**

Once you overfly your target if you did not fire a missile your laser designator will shoot straight out in front of the UAV. I guess the laser only has a 30 degree range too and only fore(in front) of your UAV. When the laser designator shoots straight out it will appear to be an enemy aircraft on your radar; a red triangle. Your pilot without hesitation will follow the laser as if it has a valid target into the sunset for a good ten miles or so. Hell finally figure it out but he goes pretty far out. Best option is to keep your laser on at all times and only switch to hellfires when your ready to shoot. Once you overfly your target disable the laser and go around for another try. ..

Do let me know if this works for anyone else. I am eager to see if I just managed to ghetto rig it in a fashion that works for me.
