Takko 10 Posted August 7, 2010 This is something which seems to happen once in a decade http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local-beat/Police-Pursuit-Ends-Near-USC-100067134.html What do you think about this? Do you think he deserved it? Do you think there would had been any difference if the suspect was a catholic priest ... ?
W0lle 1048 Posted August 7, 2010 Well it could have been worse, the guy can be happy he's still alive.
ryguy 10 Posted August 7, 2010 A catholic priest who hit seven cars, ran a cop car into a tree, and then throws punches at police officers? That's one heck of a priest, and under the circumstances, why wouldn't they? If you go on a car chase and try to fight cops, you better expect to be in a lot of pain. Big Mac 19 Posted August 7, 2010 I'd say the guy is lucky he just got beat up and a hefty list of criminal charges stacked on him instead of shot since the police would have been well within their legal right to shoot him dead.
red oct 2 Posted August 7, 2010 I've seen worse police beatings than that one. One that comes to mind is a police chase in Birmingham Alabama. I'd post the video, I don't wana risk violating any forum rules by posting it, but its pretty easy to find on youtube. In my opinion these people really have it comming to them when they do stupid things like this.
Big Mac 19 Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) VCrc-3-I82U Got love SC State Troopers...bunch of dumb ass good ol boys...-XoSEELhOAk This one is my favorite. This guy thought that just because he's a cop that meant he can pull over ANYBODY, including an ambulance that was transporting a patient to the hospital all because this ambulance failed to yield. Then after he becomes a villain on national TV due to his unprofessional behavior he blames his unprofessional behavior on PTSD suffered during his service with the ARNG in Iraq in an effort to save his job, gimme a break. PTSD doesn't make you have a superiority complex.Just so we're clear, I have nothing against cops. I have family members who are cops. I just can't stand cops who think they're God because they have a badge and gun. Edited August 7, 2010 by Big Mac

nettrucker 142 Posted August 7, 2010 I tried it once again in this very moment, but I'm unable to view it. Stays the same content unavailable. I don't know but it might be because I'm located in Italy. I had no troubles to view the other posted videos but the op video is not available to me, apart from an uninteresting commercial at the beginning. kind regards. Prydain 1 Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) Here is the Liveleak link of the OP video.http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=5a3_1281064549 Lol, look at 1:34, a cop car rams the buggery out of a tree. Perhaps he'll arrest it for obstruction? I love watching American police, they are always so pointlessly overexcited and there always seems to be more than there needs to be. Look at them, dancing around him like a gang of pack hunters scrapping over a doughnut with guns out, aiming at a stationary bloke who has given up and then jumping all over him, even onto his car just to get a sneaky punch in or just to be one of those who is cuffing him. Bizarre. Edited August 7, 2010 by Prydain

Bizarre. In this particular example you are correct, but I wouldn't say all American police are like that. They may all be arrogant pricks, but where I live they are not nearly that bad. I know he broke many laws but the cops stepped over the line... again. He had no gun, he initially stuck both hands out window like asked to, and there was 10 cops. It looks like they tazed him a few times and that got him fighting back. And yes, it looked like they wanted that donut bad. I tell my friends who are cops that without their badge and gun they aren't shit... and they agree. But I better stop here... I really dislike cops and I'll leave it at that. Big Mac 19 Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) I really dislike cops and I'll leave it at that. Everybody hates cops until they get robbed, raped, shot at, etc. Then they dial 911.. I personally think anyone who says they dislike cops in general maybe has a bad habit of breaking the law.I tell my friends who are cops that without their badge and gun they aren't shit... and they agree. Besides how would they know didn't have a gun? This guy just ran from the cops and put countless people's lives in danger if I was a cop I would have my gun drawn too because if someone is capable of what this guy did then they capable of killing a cop. So unless you were there then you nor any one else can say if they were in the right or not. I personally believe that this guy was lucky he didn't kill anyone and that he wasn't shot. They look so unprofessional, that's just unbelievable. What about making them do some combat sport and get some "in-situation" Self defence intensive courses, they'd be physically a little tougher... Despite the fact the guy was overexcited, he was alone and they were more than ten police officers to get ride of him. Kind of shameful, to say the least. Kind of shameful, to say the least. In a city where every criminal packs at least one gun on them, most likely another in the car, and more in the house, not to mention a knife or two and a cell phone, you'd be scared too. Plus just because the guy is cornered with no where to go doesn't mean jack shit. I've lost count how many times cops have been killed because they let down their guard on a cornered suspect and the suspect shot them. The cops did what they were trained to to do and that is back up your fellow officer. Edited August 8, 2010 by Big Mac
Prydain 1 Posted August 8, 2010 That's actually not what you said. Quote mining. "I love watching American police, they are always so pointlessly overexcited" Was what I said in reaction to a video, if I need to clarify my statements after every post just because I didn't include my thoughts on the whole of the US legal and law enforcement system then I would be taking this forum far too seriously. Especially since nobody here can read posts fully or with reasoned coolness or logic until you post a quote mine-able quick response to a video.
Thunderbird 0 Posted August 8, 2010 The cops did what they were trained to to do and that is back up your fellow officer. No need to take it that personally as my judgement goes against the cops in the video with no intent to generalize all US methods, technics and behaviors. I understand the danger behind the situation, but there is way more evolved methods to take control very quickly of such similar situations, and with supposed armed criminals as well. Will get you some videos of some european interventions soon. Regards, TB
johncage 30 Posted August 16, 2010 European police aren't immune to overreacting(See London subway shooting). To be honest, I don't know why people care so much about a criminal that gets roughed up, especially when the situation looked extremely dangerous. It seems people just have a bone to pick with the police and especially the US police in general due to some kind of brainwashing by the media where they develop preconceived notions about them. Personally, I was never susceptible to that kind of thing. The occasional inept cop does not make me think all cops or even a large number of them have issues following procedure and acting with common sense. Considering the amount of population in this country, and thus the high number of police, bad performances should be expected. My only disappointment is that cops don't use enough force. The prisons in California are already overpopulated, I would not mind seeing more criminals being taken off the streets permanently.
