Single (as in one) player turreted vehicles

Recommended Posts

Exactly. Why make a half-arsed seat-swapping unrealistic version when you could have two good ones, a realistic one and one aimed purely at gameplay?

Maybe because they didnt want the only armor being played to be the most heavy tanks all the time... and even in lighter armor, where you get instant killed by any AT, you still are forced to stop to fire when you are alone in it.

"...purely at gameplay?"

What are you talking about. Multi crew tanks is really common in games.

Why not just buy and play Bad Company 2 if you dont want even a basic level of realism?

Cant really say I have had issues getting people to crew a tank ether when I have wanted to. Its called swapping between lives. You gun the first time, drive the second. Also, driving can be fun. You choose hull up, hull down places, you can give target orders, you can flank the enemy and get the gunner to a good spot etc.

How many of those multicrew tanks that are common lets you either drive or man the turret, but not both at the same time?

And really, that is a stupid remark. I'm not going to stop playing Arma 2 just because there's no auto tanks. This is a discussion in the suggestions forum, not a rabid rant about refusing to play the game unless I can force the developers to do everything I ask. FYI, I bought Bad Company 2 on release day and there is a reason why I havent touched it since Arrowhead came out.

Jeez, so much fuzz about suggesting damn optional vehicles that you wouldnt even see unless a mission designer place them...

Optional as in downloadable addon, no problem. In the vanilla game, big problem. Even if Domination wouldn't use them, rest assured there would be edits out there that would utilize them and ruin the game. I couldn't join a Domination game with certain expectations of what the experience would be. Or any mission for that matter.

If it was based on a downloadable addon, at least I have the choice of not getting it, preventing me from joining such servers.

I remember the tank turret control now. I think I prefer the direct control method used today. Turret won't move faster than the config allows anyway.

If you're talking about making a mod, then perhaps this would have gone down better in the modding section.

The problem is.... this is supposed to be a realistic game. If you made a mission that was full of bf2 style tanks.... the majority of players wouldn't like it, and would request you replaced them with the more realistic "standard" tanks we're used to using in these games.

I want "driver turret vehicles" simply because it would provide the modding community with an excellent base for many advanced vehicle simulations!

What about the Ka-50? That's a "single player tank with a turret" isn't it? You need a turret class in the config to do things like the Shkval or the Sniper XL pods on A-10/ F-16 type aircraft.

With a turret class in the config you could give Stryker drivers access to be able to look around their viewports.

So what? I would make the missions I wanted. Maybe no one would play the mission, everybody hate it and threaten to burn down my house, but that's beside the point.

Do you think BIS thought "hey, this mortar Stryker is just props that cant be used in gameplay... And there's like 6 other Strykers that are cooler to use. Hm... I know, lets scrap it from the game! No one is going to use it anyway!"? Obviously, they didnt.

There is a limit, but its not stable movement. It move like in... Battlefield. Jerky and directly player controlled, like a large infantry weapon rather than a huge, engine powered cannon. Unrealistic. I find it odd that you prefer this, yet you are for more realistic implementations.

I just can't stand the "crosshair" where I'm viewing. Battlefield or not, I just can't handle a "crosshair" on the screen.

In BF2 you didnt have a tracking Javelin that could hit the tank from 2km distance and insta-kill it, where said tank cant even see the infantry. Infantry in Arma2 is insanely powerful while ground vehicles are generally weak as hell.

How do you explain Real life than? The Infantry are the backbone of any force, and are the most powerful force ont he battlefield if used right (aside from nukes) In reality you never, ever see a armored vehicle w/o Mech Infantry Escort, CoD has tought some terrible things to people.....

And if thats true for you, use a joystick, I have mine set up for Turret control in Armored vehicles.

The way I read it, you want to have tanks upgraded to an unrealistic level that takes away a core part of the game, teamwork for armored vehicles. I mean tanks may have a 360 degree view but they cant observe that, engage targets, scan for armored targets and infantry, and control their movements, infantry are a second set of eyes and ears for them.

hi, was told to post here..

i want to use the above concept of a single unit vehicle where the driver will switch to gunner but remain seated. he will control a mounted gun on top of this vehicle via controls within the vehicle.

i have been told that turning in/out would be a solution.. would anyone know how to config the turn in/out? am building this vehicle from scratch.. if there are any available references please let me know

another alternative is to use manual fire but i don't know how this is done..

thanks in advance
