Funny how his creations were eventually locked out of the game, forcing people to roll-back from the latest official patches.

that was nothing to do with templar, that was because all the immiture idiots out there took the ability to edit the game and used to cheat on like every server that was running. so they released 1.01 to stop it (took them IDIOTICALLY long to release that first patch)

you should see how far templar has continued to "develop" the game where CM left it :

are we allowed to post links to CM forum? he has started a new project called Tactical Engagement Simulator that looks amazing!

Well, the Mythbusters proved you *can* polish a turd... but does that mean you would keep it around / give it to your wife as a present?

Indeed. To extend the analogy even further, if you polish a turd you usually end up getting yourself covered in shit and looking like a complete idiot.

So you are well informed, experienced and have good taste - good for you... you just lack the analytical skill to recognize that only CM are doing a pitiful try to deliver a game in the same category as OFP, ArmA & ArmA2 (I like to call it War Simulation Kit).

Quite the contrary. I have the analytical skill to see through the magazine hype and tell that CM doesn't even try to deliver "games in the same category as OFP, ArmA & ArmA2" but a more "mainstream" or "marketable" "experience". I called it on DR and for RR they're doing good job calling it themselves.

Goes without saying Templar is almost the whole DR mod community on his own.

But in saying that he's not shy about having a huge PAYPAL link in his signature.

Imagine if all the modders for Arma2 wanted tips for making stuff, it's doesn't sit right to be honest.

its a donation link, whats wrong with that? you dont have to donate. He spends an insane amount of time helping the community, so I see no problem with accepting donations.

actually, if I remember correctly, he put that there at the request of several community members, but i might be wrong

it seems all you guys do is lay hate on him because he supports the game like he does, whats up with that?

It's kind of like, having a cat. After a few months your little cute cat gets rabies and dies.

But for some reason you obsess over it and pretend it's alive, buying it food, petting it, cuddling it, sleeping in the same bed as it...

That's the thing. Not many people pet something that's dead...

I'm sorry. What?Cats? The previous poster was referring to the paypal link.

Not their interest in something you don't like.

As far as modders having a donation link in their signature:

I don't understand why that's a problem.Wherever it may be.Most of them put a great deal of time and effort into what they do.Enough so,to almost qualify them as second jobs.If they can make a few quid out of it,why shouldn't they?

Donations are elective. Not required. You don't have to donate.

Yea, if templar wants a donation link so what?

Anyway, back on topic. Seems the forums are pretty quiet for anyone but CM's Community Manager posting (bad news mostly), If Sion doesn't start pulling out some good features Im not sure ANYONE will buy it.

I guess they will start announcing good things at a later date, I guess all we have is bad news to come, Would be nice to hear some good news about RR actually.

Did I see correctly that they only increased the entity cap to 80

Does anyone have a source on that?

That is just so lame.... I recently tried DR again with the latest version of the Island War mission and lo and behold - out of the corner of my eye, magic spawning soldiers dropping in to visit and entertain this player-centric "sandbox".

Thats the difference between a Nasty productions (Dynamic War) in that, although there is some level of spawning, it doesn't appear before you and there is other combat going on around you so that the world is not just centered on you.

To be fair ... that's in ArmA II too - but only if you want to use the Ambient Combat Manager addionally to the thousands of units per side! :D

And to be fairer ... even ArmA II has some kind of zone restriction - but only if you use the Zone Restriction module having a nicely scalable borderzone of your combat area spawning even more groups :D

Well than I stand corrected...

Well played Sir!

That's why I smiled in both lines :D

80 entities in total? Would be nice for a 5 minute hunting session in 0,5 square kilometer arena.

In all seriousness tho, this really reduces DR to just a shooter, less than a Tac Shooter < a War Sim.

Its the harsh reality I encounter everytime I've ever tried to get into the game. For Example, if I'm scouting a village and entering from the North, only to take new fire from the North after having cleared the exact area a few moments ago -then what is the point of anything!?! Just shoot, wait for some magic, shoot again....!

Pointless....

That needs quoting.

I did (please dont flame me for it :butbut:) buy DR and it was the worst €40 I have ever spent. The game was totally shite. I could go on but I wont, I am even getting bored writing this...

If I'm right, this is just some BS made up in this thread. I haven't heard anything official about entity limits.

If you read Templar's feature claims in his island war thread, it says he increased the entity limit to 80. The entity limit is a well established limitation of DR.

Yes, the entity limit in Dragon Rising was increased shortly after release. But I thought we are talking about entity limit in Red River...

There are 100's of ppl here, modders/island makers/retexturers/mission makers that spend hrs/yrs releasing stuff for this community/helping the community and afaik would never place a donation link in their sig!

They do it outta love! :yay:
