Sad thing is it will sell a shit load of copies to the misinformed consumers who fall for their bullshit marketing.

"Operation Flashpoint: Shiiite"...brilliant just brilliant.

A Number 3 Number 2 eh? Well, at least we'll have some fun, which is more than I can say for the people who buy Number 2 Number 3.

I sadly fell for OFPDR. I will certainly not be making the same mistake again.

Oh noes!!! That means another giant thread about their next fail.

What a shame to see what they do to the old title. :(

But... nice.

How goes that saying?

"Fool me once shame on me . . . fool me twice shame on you!!!

I'm curios with what marketing plan they'll come up, given the epic fail of DR.

kind regards

Yeah that was quality!- Especially when in the CM forums when they went crazy for a sceenie, just to be told it was actually an Arma1 screen! :D:D

Damn, i missed it. Anyone still has a link to this?

But seriously, any kind of competition, even a crappy one, is good for us. This will push BIS to keep improving.

And if by a miracle it happens to be a good game, I won't complain either.

"The last one was just a joke! Honest!" - Sion Lenton, sometime in the near future.

The ironic thing is that it was. :p

Well, I predict this will go:

  1. Like most developers making a sequel to a shitty game, they'll claim that they've learned from thier mistakes, but won't show proof.
  2. Then they'll say they have improved the game so much that it won't even be comparable to it's previous "hit, best-selling, genre-defining, ground-breaking" itteration.
  3. Many pre-rendered trailers and pictures will be released, genuinely giving the impression things have changed to those who can't distinguish between Photoshop and in-game rendering (which seems to be the majority of gamers out ther today).
  4. Eventually, the game will be released, there'll be waves of bought-out "this game is fantastic" reviews, before a few slip through CM's grasp showing the true colors of the game.
  5. Then the shitstorm will start, with both communities bashing the game and the developer for yet again utterly failing to live up to the hype.

tl;dr version: Pretty much exactly the same as DR. ;)

As you seem to be in the knowing. Has BIS never released pre-rendered screens and videos?

They have only done it once, which was 2 or 3 hi-res pre-renders (never used for advertising) for ArmA 1 which you could only get if you participated in a competition that was going on at the time (and even then they weren't renders on the scale of which most are nowadays, mainly just slight Photoshop touchups). Otherwise they've never used them. ;)

According to a famous French proverb : "(sadly) Ridiculousness does not kill", Sion and his clique survived the first "dragging into the mud" of our beloved OFP name.

Operation Flashpoint - Dragon Risible was rather disappointing since it never attained the standards set by OFP in so many respects. Unfortunately Enemy in sight never materialised. A Flashpoint style game from the makers of Hidden and Dangerous and Mafia would probably have provided healthy competition for BIS.

Sander

Guess CM may think:

"Its been a long time and people tend do forget things and if not - some new blind dragons will be there to support us on our crusade! Be warned - the Revenge of the Ego+Cash Rising is close!!" :mad2:
